IIRC, Everyone on here felt Niemi "stole" a series vs us when he was in Chicago. He's capable of stealing a game/series, cuz he's done it before.

Handzus was part of the problem, but Mitchell has to be better with the puck there. mistakes like that are killers vs teams like detroit.

For some reason we cant seem to get 60 good minutes from our team. We cant worry about the bad refs and the bad bounces because they are beyond our control. I still feel that even with the team we have (with Vlasic, Murray and Havlat back) we can keep up with the best of them.
I actually agree with you...I do think they need to pick up a player that can fill in on the top 6 because I'm not totally convinced Havlat's going to be 100% healthy, but the offense, defense (when healthy) and goaltenders are more than good enough to win.

They need to get back to the defensively sound hockey that they were playing for the first 45-50 games, they've gotten away from it for some reason since the calendar turned to February.

I think you mean Nemo, Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, Dave Bolland and Dustin Byfuglien.

Sure, Buff, Keith and Seabrook were a part of it. I remember a few very vocal posters trying to say Bolland had nothing to do with the loss or shutting down Thornton. Obviously, they were wrong. Nemo can do it. He's earned that kind of rep. If he doesn't win, we can blame thw GM for not stacking the rest of the team - if that's what it takes.

He's done it once...two years ago. Personally I don't think that should make a reputation. I think he's a slightly above-average goalie but I don't have a lot of confidence in him. He seems to have more off streaks than on.

Well, that's part of my problem with him. If he wasn't, I wouldn't expect so much more than what he's giving us right now.

He is paid the same as Halak is for the same years (two years post UFA). It is roughly in line with his performance/credentials.

lol Well, I guess I don't know what the hell I'm talking about. I don't think he should be making as much as he does nor for as long a term as he has. But of course that's just my bias talking which I freely admit.

The Sharks outplayed Chicago in that series. Niemi's performance, coupled with Nabokov crapping the bed, was the biggest reason they won.

If by outplayed, you mean being completely dominated by Chicago's speed and neutral zone play, sure.

Geeze, I simply can't comprehend why you don't have an avatar or never posted here before

I miss the Detroit fans during their losing streak. They went from "we're not an elite team anymore" to "we're unbeatable at home".

I guess that's why the Sharks had more scoring chances than Chicago and outshot them with the score tied.

But, hey, your revisionist history works too.
