Montador/Hjalmarsson status?

I've been searching all over the internet, including all of my Blackhawks pages I have "liked" on FB, and not one of them has posted about the current status on Montador and Hammer. Has there been recent news that I just haven't come across? I'm getting sick of the steady dose of O'Donnell and Lepisto we've had the past week or so. We need both of those guys back soon.

Hammer could play Tuesday, skated today I believe or will skate tomorrow, per Rogers/TMyers on Twitter. There's been little update on Montador.

I'm not on Twitter, but that sounds good for Hammer. We need our shot blocking maniac!

Twitter's the tool to use for staying updated with the Hawks. The only reason I'm on Twitter is for that very reason, especially this time of year.

Upper body injury. Who knows. Maybe aggravated his last injury and this time it's worse?

What's the rush? We're winning and giving up less than 2 a game since they've been out. I could do without the stupid turnovers in our own end, but other than that, we're playing good D lately.

I'm pretty sure Olsen is more than making up for the turnovers Hammer and Montador would have combined.

Ha! So true. I really dont mind Olsen's turnovers (which he can recover from 70% of the time), especially if he can have 6 hits a game

Olsen is doing well, and already playing top 4 minutes. Tomorrow will be a test for him because he has slow feet and the Wings will no doubt try to expose him on that. We'll see how he handles it. So far so good with D.O. Just don't rush him; that's all. He is still a project, and it's not like we have enough depth at the back to be able to risk his development.

And as for Monty, I sure don't miss him. Once Hjammer comes back, how about:

4/7
2/34
6/8
20

The risk of Olsen, IMO, is that he seems solid being paired with Keith, whose speed can overcome rookie mistakes he might make. If Hammer and Montador come back, and the plan is for Olsen to still be one of our 6 DMen, then he probably has to remain paired with Keith. I wouldn't want Olsen paired with Montador on the bottom pairing I don't think.

I do think this would be our bottom Pair.

LDs on our roster
Keith
Hjammer
Leddy
Olsen
SOD
Lepisto

they all prefer the left side, Hjammer can't even play on the right side

RDs
Seabrook
Monty

I can't think of anything that could ruin Olsen's confidence more quickly than having to play with Monty who can turn into a yard sale at any time. Monty was supposed to be a guy who can play 15 minutes, kill penalties, and fill in where needed. Instead, if he's going to play it's like we have to hide him. I don't think I can take 3 more years of him.

Also, Leddy has played right side all year with Hjammer and I believe Olsen may have come up playing the right side (although I think he was on the left with Rockford this year).

Sooner or later we and more importantly Q and Stan, are going to have the face the facts when it comes to our inconsistent d corps. After Keith, Seabs and Hammer, any one of them can be a train wreck on any given night. If we don't grab a steady (& preferably 2), stay at home veteran back liners by the TD that will be our undoing.

Yeah, warts and all I might just take Sopel right now over 6/20/32 at the back and if we had to snatch the 5 off Monty's back to get him it wouldn't bother me.

For a second, I thought that I wrote this post.

It's word for word what I said about Twitter just a few days ago.

I use twitter for one thing: Sports news. Blackhawks, Bears, Cubs, Fantasty Football, etc. It's the easiest way to get up to date news on all those things.

Hjalmarsson in tonight

The beat is making it sound like Monty might be done for the season, but no official word yet.

Glad Hammer is back to block some shots. Let's just hope Q doesn't re-unite him with Leddy.
