Aside from the fact that he's pretty unproven, Parenteau's style of play will probably depress his value a bit. Until this season he was an absolute turnover machine and even now he's not a very strong backchecker or defensive forward. These kind of things might concern a team gearing up for the playoffs.
I doubt he'd get more than a 2nd round pick/equivalent prospect in return, and if that's the case I'd rather just keep him.
no interest in that player AT ALL!!! the isles didn't bring back martinek because he could never stay healthy. you have offered a tin man, similar to radek.
As a Blues fan, i'd consider Ian Cole for PAP but it would be a painful trade to pull the trigger on. Cole is highly regarded in the organization (very good offensively, hits like a truck, solid defensively) and will be needed next year when guys like Coliacovo and Huskins are shipped off. I really like PAP's skillset though and he'd definitely help the Blues scoring woes.
I don't think I want to pay the price it'd take for Streit
considering how hard it is to get quality top 4 d-men,considering the isles only have 3 d-men signed for next season and that they won't want picks/prospects for Streit,I agree that Blues fans would not like the big overpayment Snow would demand.
so instead of having this thread slide into the usual ....
1.He's not THAT good.
2.Isles will never get that price paid for him.
3.those are totally unrealistic demands.
let's just agree that the isles are not trading Streit to the Blues

Streit's signed for 1 more season.Parenteau is a ufa this July, who's extension talks have stalled and who's probably gonna be wildly overpaid by some desperate gm this summer.
I think there is a huge difference in their situations.
I think Snow takes the best offer he gets for Parenteau ,while Streit will be playing top 4 minutes for the isles next season.

Kipper said PAP will be traded for picks and then resigned by the Isles in the off season

A poster on the isles board says Parenteau gave a radio interview several days ago.Parenteau is saying he's worked for yrs to reach the nhl and this is his chance at a large payday/security.I can't recall if the poster's comments are in the Parenteau thread or trade wishlist thread.
Do you see the isles outbidding other teams, deeper pocketed teams, for Parenteau?I don't.
NO WAY he produces anywhere but NYI. He was terrible last year with the NYR.
The difference between PAP last year on the Island and this year is noticable. If a team lacks wingers who can set up there linemates he would be a good pickup, but he's not really a good match for teams who already have decent wingers
What do you think Ottawa need to pay to get him? I'd like to keep our 1st round pick if at all possible, is there any other combo of players or picks that could land him?
Don't bother including prospects like Silfverberg or Zibanejad, odds are he's a rental.

Parenteau would be a flipping Idiot not to resign with the Islanders . Going to another team in the offseason will cost him multi millions in the long run . Moulson agent figured this out so should Parenteau . Playing with Tavares is padding their stats and wallets period.

IMO it will take a young defenseman that projects to be a good top 4 defenseman or a first round pick + lower level prospect.

NYI and SENS dont make good trade partners imo.....We need defense and Cowen is what we would want but that would be a crazy overpayment for PAP who would be a rental.......
I think if the sens were serious about a playoff push and were willing to give up a 1st, than Hes yours....
good comparison; that's probably what he could become
the asking price for a top 4 young defenceman is high; however Mcginn-Moore-PA would be a pretty killer 3rd line. I would think pretty hard about something like Demers + 5th for Paranteau +2nd, but other Sharks fans are gonna say no way; and now that the blueline is banged up it makes even less sense; maybe if one of isles ufa defencemen is coming back too
Putting Parenteau anywhere near a checking line is asking for trouble, he's limited defensively and soft.

He's definitely playing a dangerous game, if he doesn't re-sign then he probably will be traded and if he bombs on his new team then that is really going to hurt his value and he might end up getting 1 year deals for less than the Isles were originally offering.
