Schenn's hit for next year shouldn't be that high, right?
Depends on what happens in the CBA. If there is a bonus cushion again, then no.
As far as the question in the thread title, I think Holmgren being our GM is a much stronger signal that the Flyers will go nuts this offseason than these trades are. Homer doesn't have it in him to stand pat and let a team grow naturally.

They should be able to. So let Jagr and Carle walk, re-sign Grossman and sign Suter?
I would like to keep Grossman as well....Kubina is like when we got Malakhov...who incidently performed very well for us...but yeah he's not likely going to be resigned. I'm torn on Jagr. Let's see what he does in the playoffs. He is good for chemistry and I think he can get another 50 pts next year.
re-sign Grossman
Let Carle and Kubina walk
Call up MAB
Sign Suter
LTIR Pronger - he is done
as posted. I would also let Jagr walk too...I guess, I like him but the injury bug scares me.

I'm ok with everything except bringing in Zanon. We need to give MAB/Gus a chance to play. It's time this team gave their young defenseman a chance to play
I would like to see them re-sign Grossman as he is still young, gives them a big body to clear the crease and he blocks shots. I think he's only making around 1.6M ths season so, he should come at a nice cap hit. Carle can take his turnovers to another team. Kubina I see only as a rental for the playoffs.
I have no doubt that, should Suter not choose to sign with Nashville, the Flyers are going to push hard to get him.
I don't see Bob being on this team next season. I have a feeling they are going to bring Hovinen over and give him a shot.

This is true. I agree with this. But if the Flyers MO stands true, it'll be to sign someone else.. haha..
But I would love to see the team pan out like this next year.
I think the Preds are preparing themselves for Suter leaving picking up Gil, I think the Flyers are gunning towards him, I personally would like Weber more but it's a win/win situation getting either guy and both of them help this team as soon as they get here
You obviously don't understand how valuable a 2nd and 6th round pick are.
You know me, and I don't take asset management lightly. I find it easier to take the trading of 2nd round picks when they are for players that will play for us, rather than just paying teams to take contracts so we can have necessary cap space.

I have no problem with deals made this past week. I was just being sarcastic because some people seem to value picks more than real NHL players.
I can see them making a trade at the draft for suters rights.
Suter has already told Nashville he wants to test the FA waters. Trading for his rights would probably just result in another Hamhuis situation. Only it would cost more.

He has bonuses on his contract. My understand is that if at the beginning of the season he has the ability to achieve those bonuses then the bonus $ is added to his salary for his total cap hit.
I forget exactly what they were this year but I believe it was something like a certain amount of minutes played in 82 games?? Which is why we sent him down in the beginning, making it impossible for him to play those 82 games

The lines 3 and 4 are still offensive (3 more than 4) but can shutdown other lines and very good defensively. Overall very good D in front of the goalies and still 1.6M left in a 22 man roster. Suter at 6.2M for 7 to 8 years.
As said on the other thread about Kubina looking to possibly re-sign, if he does, for cheaper and that probably means we won't get Suter. But it might mean that we might spend a bit more somewhere else... or just keep the money for when we need it.

Where's Lilja? He'd have to be in over Gus (which would actually save almost 200k).
