2-19-12: The odds of the Wild making the post season ATM

What are the odds at this particular moment? Seven weeks remain and we are in 12th place. A number of quality clubs remain on the schedule, but we are technically still "alive."

The difference between the Blues yesterday and the Bruins today was night and day, but we clearly showed some heart today. Any thoughts?

If they play like they did today down the stretch this team could be in the playoffs.

If not...?

EDIT: Voted for 11-30%

4 points out ATM. Right there. I voted 11-33%. These goalies need to start playing like the all star tandem they were earlier in the year. That is the only way.

If we play like we did today, we're a shoe in.

If we play like we did yesterday, we're a fail'n for a nail'n.

I said 31-60 because I think were somewhere around the 35% chance range, personally.

You need to break that range up, honestly.

We need Backstrom or Harding to play like Veznia candidates or someone to step up big time. The teams slightly ahead of us faltering would help also.

I say 11 to 30 percent. The team played great today, but there is no way Backs can do that every game. Stranger things have happened though.

To be honest. Around 10%. This was only one game and we've struggled long like a ****. AHL roster doesn't help and team is still pretty messed up (Zid situation etc..)

Calgary, Anaheim, Phoenix are playing strong. They are really fighting and racing. Dallas, Colorado, LA are pretty stable 0.500 lately. We could pass latter of course. But Wild need to have some huge transformation as a team in the big picture - to get higher than that. It's possible but unlikely.

That's pretty much it.

Was today a case of the Bruins not showing up?

The Blues owned us up and down 24 hours earlier.

I agree, They may play a few good games, but there won't be enough to climb over the other teams.

It really depends on Koivu and our other injured players to me. If Koivu is good to go and we get Cullen and Setoguichi scoring I believe we can sneak in as an 8 seed or at least not be out of it by the end of the season. However, IF Koivu doesn't come back and we don't get any help at the deadline I think we will wind up in the 10-12 range with occassional spurts of good play. I mean eventually playing with guys like Rau, Ortmeyer, Peters, Almond, and Taffe in the lineup every night is going to catch up to you. Like we have been saying all along this is a playoff team when healthy, but we aren't right now. We are literally missing an entire top 6 line (Lats-Koivu-PMB).

I think the same goes for Lats. If we can get him back and he can spark some scoring I think we have a shot, but with the lineup we played with last night...no I don't think so.

The standings are showing a rough pack to rise to the top to:

Ducks (RED hot)
LA
Dallas
Colo
Calgary

Those are all the teams fighting for 8.

I just don't see us rising to the top of the bunch, but eh, this team was the best in the league for the first half so I guess you never know.

Like I said, it all depends on which Wild team shows up the rest of the way. The good Wild, or the suck Wild.

Just when I've all but completely given up on this team they go and shutout the Bruins. Can they just make the decision of whether to make the playoffs or tank already? This crap play with spots of brilliance is killing me.
