Quincey is pretty much your perfect long term Brad Stuart replacement. I don't think a first is possible, but who knows. Nice speculating.

Can we please sell. GMGM needs a full mental evaluation if he thinks this team will do anything come the playoffs, let alone delusions of the Stanley Cup.

It wasn't speculation (should have clarified, sorry), it was based on a McKenzie tweet that has since been confirmed.

Ha. Wow. Detroit showing their smarts though. Quincey will be a nice fixture on their blueline going forward.

And what Warden said. Sell Wideman immediately. Or do what Tampa did with Kubina. Hold him out and get people salivating.

I wouldn't be surprised if Piche is just an empty contract to keep it balanced, but yeah... this market says sell what you can.

I could see Widemen netting a 1st, 2nd, and maybe more.

...GMGM will sit on his hands.

Real_ESPNLeBrun: Said one NHL GM to me today, ```Colorado could be quite busy over the next week.'' Trade 1 is down...

Sounds like they're gunning for a spot. Trying to anyhow.

Worth noting that Quincey is RFA, not a rental.

I don't know much about CBA restrictions (or other) but at some point does GMGM have the option to try and bring Kuznetsov over this year? We need more skilled puck carriers right now to try and make a playoff run. I know it's extremely unlikely but I'm curious if it's an option. This year has gotten ugly and I think it's important that they make the playoffs.

As has been said 8 or 9 times, he is subject to waivers if they brought him over midseason. So no. Not to mention his club has playoffs and the like

If Quincey goes for a first, God dammit trade Wideman GMGM.

Also, I can't find a winner on that deal. Maybe Detroit, doesn't make sense for the other 2 teams IMO

None, deal with KHL requires him to wait till next season.

I'm pretty much convinced Suter will sign as a UFA with Tampa Bay now. They have money to go get a guy like him and need defensive help. They will get a goalie of decent caliber and we'll see a repeat of last year.

Colorado gets more jam up front and sells off a defenseman they may not have wanted to give a raise.

TB gets another high pick to either restock or move in a package for a young goaltender.

Don't see a strong fit with Pietrangelo & Shattenkirk at RD but who knows. They do need more scoring punch. Maybe in a prime right point PP / third pairing role he'd fit.

Plenty from STL that should draw interest.

Yeah I don't see how this trade says Col is "going for it". Agreed on the jam. But this trade is killing their back end.

Colorado's D was already pretty weak, do they really need another top 6 forward?
TB gets a high 1st for Downie... not good value.
Quincey is also not worth a first.

If it was Quincey for Downie like originally reported, i think it is fair both ways.

Um, unless Detroit got terrible and I've been watching too many Caps games...that pick will hardly be "high".

Yeah, I wouldn't think the D would be the target. Crazier things have happened, but I would think Hammer or Wideman would be the only available ones and neither fit well. I would think they're more interested in Chimera, Laich, Brouwer or Ward.

I like Wideman, but if we have a chance of getting a first round pick and not get fleeced otherwise, DO IT! Three first round picks in this up coming draft is a hell of a trade chip. Even in the situation where they all end up 15th or worse, that might be enough to sneak up late top ten. They could also end up with a 15th-30 pick and two in the 3rd-14 range. I wonder if two 5-14 picks and a 20 or later pick could net us a top three pick? Is it even worth it unless we can get the second pick for Grigorenko? I mean Galchenyuk could be had at a lesser price or none at all but the Nail effect worries me a bit. I understand he has high individual praise before and still does but that thought is still there.

Yeah, that doesn't read "going for it" at all. Only 4 teams in the West have gave up more goals then the Avs and three of them have scored more goals. To be fair, Ducks and Oilers have only scored 1 and 2 more goals. Sounds like Bolts are giving up a bit, but hopefully Downie isn't the difference that lets the Avs finish ahead of the Bolts.

I could see Wideman returning to St. Louis where his NHL career began.

Wideman and Joel Ward

for

St. Louis first and Chris Stewart
