really good signing, especially moving forward. You want a guy like Brodziak setting an example for the Larssons, Coyles, Zuckers, etc. because he honestly works his arse off.
The reality is that Brodziak's value to the team is more than what we would get back in a trade.

I don't think it would be out of the question to expect 3 million gone for both Latendresse and Granlund combined.

To me this signing is a strong candidate for the old "contract year + bad team" inflation. It looks okay now. In a couple years with a better team it probably doesn't. Really, stats-wise Brodziak has not had a great season. He's getting loads of ice time for that modest, very streaky offense. And he leads the team in areas you don't want (team goals against). We shall see down the road.

Very cool. It's always nice when a player walks the talk. He says he loves it here and nobody works harder. He needs to be lettered next year, not saying which letter...but...
Cap hit is very fair. Term is great. He will be a great transition guy. I still think he's a lot like Wes Walz in his work ethic, hustle, determination, and ability to fill different roles.
To be clear, he's an above average third line center, but I think between Mikko's injury history, Granlund being small and a rookie, and Cullen's streakiness, it is a smart move to keep him here.

A big potential con is that with him here we don't get someone who's better. Or if we do upgrade we don't get good value for him. He's no Wes Walz. This year there hasn't been much "two" in Brodziak's "way" game.

He will talk to Parise. Not saying he will sign him or even be on the shortlist, but like 2/3 of the teams are at least going to put a call in, and among those he's probably in the top third or so in position to make a lucrative offer.
But I'll agree that if Parise signs with someone else, Fletch probably won't be pursuing anyone at forward.
