If your around upstate New York on the 11-13 of Nov. theres a 4 0n 4 tournament going on at the Utica Aud.
Here are some of the people playing
Those scheduled to play are Tony Amonte, John LeClair, Keith Primeau and Eric Weinrich of the Flyers; Jamie Langenbrunner, John Madden and Jay Pandolfo of the New Jersey Devils; Erik Cole of the Carolina Hurricanes; and Joe Nieuwendyk of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
And here are the some of the rules.
The 4-on-4 format will be offensively augmented by the lack of a red line and penalty shots on every penalty called.
Tickets are $15. And the money goes to Robert Esche's charity
Well, I won't be at the Utica Aud to see them, but the next two days (Nov. 12/13) they will be playing at the arena in my hometown (Clinton, NY). Should be a good time, I'm hoping to snag tickets for both days. It'll be interesting to see NHLers skating around the old rink where I used to.
The Utica Devils and the other minor league teams that were in Utica usually played a few exhibition games here every season, but it's been quite a while since we've seen that... since Utica can't support any sort of team anymore (Devils, Bulldogs, Blizzard, Prowlers).
Too bad there will be no rangers there but that's alright with me, hopefully I'll get to meet some of the guys afterwards, maybe get some autographs. Props to Esche for this little tourney, hopefully it'll go off without a hitch.
Also, in the paper it said the other goalie would be Marty Biron of the Sabres.
