Isn't he made of paper mache now? A deal for Crosby will never happen. He's obviously the best player in the world... but you'd have to gut a team to get him, so if he's not playing for another year...

It would make ZERO sense for the Pens to trade him now when his value would be at his lowest cause of his injuries. They should wait it out and hope for the best. If he can come back and stay healthy then you are talking a trade for the biggest package in NHL history, or Pens have the top 2 players in the world playing together again.

Trading him now is simply NOT an option at all.

Exactly. That's why you don't do it.

Your math needs as much work as your trade discretion.

Agree 100% with the last sentence, and I don't want to derail the thread with stupid out-of-context assessments, but in all fairness the post-Gretzky Oilers won the Cup once more than post-Oilers Gretzky did.

Crosby isn't going to be traded. I don't see the point of the thread. It would have to be MASSIVE overpayment that would destroy a teams core. It would take a #1 center coming back,a very high scoring winger,a top pairing defenseman, and a few first rounders.

Honestly I know it's Crosby but I would only give up Roy+Ehrhoff

I just wanted to show you, that what you said is just stupid. No GM would ever turn down the offer I wrote (Crosby+ our crap) for the core of the Hawks.

Please don't act like you were the greatest and crafty's guy in the world, because you are clearly not. The sentence "You don't trade the best player in the world." could have come from a 6 year old kid.
It always depends on what you get for what you give. If you give the best player in the world and get the 2nd,3rd,4th and 5th best, you do that (no connection to the Hawk trade) - and if you don't your an idiot.

You could also have saved the "Your math needs...work" crap, seriously who do you think you are? I just thew it out, to show my point. The pens I listed up make 23M, the Hawks 33.08. Since there are 132 days left, that would add 6.46M to the penguin payroll. They have 2.32 free space, so it doesn't work because auf 4.14M cap wise.

Had the pens put Crosby to the LTIR at the beginning of the season, it would have worked.

Here's a scenario; Columbus's season is lost. They have a franchise player they're looking to trade.

Nash for Crosby.

Nash helps the Pens now and going forward. Put Crosby with Yakapov and maybe THAT convinces Carter that everything will be okay and Columbus starts clean slate next year with a *POTENTIALLY* healthy Crosby.

33.08-23 = 10.08 * (132/365) = 3.64536987M - 2.32 Cap space = 1.32...

That means if a year still has 365 days

So I just missed again, due my angryness..there are only missing 1.32M in cap space..that really makes you look much much better.

There's a reason Detroit never got rid of Yzerman to get Gretzky. We're not going to trade Toews to get Crosby.

Not to mention the whole scrambled brains thing Crosby has going on.

Crosby has more talent, but Toews and Keith are incredibly valuable to our franchise.

Pitt isn't going to trade Crosby.. risk to reward here folks. You risk him not coming back because if he comes back he's better than any player in the NHL. PENGUINS WILL NOT TRADE CROSBY. Just stupid to think they would IMO.

Not even if you throw in Stills and possibly Young.

You bake cakes and dream up scenarios in which you can give away your team's heart and soul?? That's odd behavior

Crosby is never being traded from Pittsburgh whilst his future is in consideration.

Pittsburgh will never trade him, if Crosby leaves it's because he wants to which I honestly doubt

Actually I thought about Toews+Keith for Crosby+Martin, which is a fair deal IMO.

Then I anticipated, which deals could be proposed, and I thought about Seguin+Seidenberg+1rst and Kessel+Schenn+1rst, but then again, I thought, that I would only do Toews and Keith.

None of these Crosby threads ever make any sense or have any point to them.

Why would you even want to know what he'd return anyway? He's probably the best player in the league when healthy (Malkin is making a real strong case to say otherwise).

That's a huge risk for both teams, but a bigger risk for the acquirer.

Pitts wouldn't deal him unless its for a huge overpayment - meaning that even he comes back Pitts makes out ok. The acquirer could end up with zilch, setting them back years...

Question Pittsburgh fans:

Would you trade Crosby to Columbus for Rick Nash, 1st 2012, and 1st 2013?

I wouldn't give up much for him TBH.

But I still would trade for him even if his future was uncertain, which it is.

No. I wouldn't take Rick Nash for free.
