Khabibulin out 8-to-10 days. Nobody needs a rental goalie with a groin problem. Now at least Dubnyk should get thr net night after night.

Roy is where he should be right now, gaining confidence in a low end pro league. Let him climb the ladder. No need to put him at the top of the mountain just so he can fall off.
Note that my metaphorical ladder changed to a mountain rather quickly. Thats how I roll.
That really sucks especially with teams potentially interested in him. Dubnyk has not been good at all since his 5 straight games.
He wasn't even good in those games. He was good against San Jose, alright against Vancouver, then brutal after that. The Oilers had to score 4+ goals to get the victories with him in goal.
my initial reaction on this news was that we should just pick up Conklin as a back-up until Khabi is healed and then waive him again. leave Danis in the A to continue to give the Barons the best chance they can at succeeding.
but on second thought, it's nice for Danis to get some action in the NHL to see what he may be capable of at this point in his career. he deserves it, and we can always hope for a good news story.
Yeah we are obviously the 29th place team because our backup has average backup stats while playing behind the worst defensive team in the league.
but after last year he was suppoed to be at least #1B and he's regressed. he hasn't been very good at all this year, regardless of what is in front of him. bad defense doesn't let in weak goals.
both the Oilers goalies have for the most part been no better than average this year. Denis should get a fair chance to show what he can do. having some big saves instead of some bad goals would really make a difference in the mental makeup of the team. knowing a goalie will make the stop.
How many of those bad goals resulted from brutal defensive turnovers?
I just think Dubnyk doesnt adjust his positioning quickly enough. It is like he needs to see the play develop in front of him or else he isnt ready. This results in "bad" goals. A great goalie has no problem doing this.
You may call the goal by booth of off the Smyth turnover or the screen shot from the point "bad" goals but they were both direct results of bad turnovers that didnt give Dubnyk time to adjust to the play.
A turnover prone team and a goalie who is slow to adjust is a deadly combination. Expecting Dubnyk to put up good numbers with the joke of a team he has in front of him is unfair. Luongo wouldnt last two weeks here right now.
It wont matter who is in net if the Oilers play not to win.
lol what does that even mean? And yes, it does matter who is in net. If your goalie stinks, the team sags and plays worse. If your goalie is great, it gives confidence to everyone from the defense to the forwards. Pretty simple and obvious stuff right there.
