Honest answer? Since it seems really unlikely that we could fall to 8th or miss the playoffs. I couldn't care less if we win the division as long as we get healthy.
If we finish 2nd, we're likely to play Ottawa. If we finish 7th we're likely to play Ottawa, and chances are in the next two rounds if we advance, we're playing NYR or PIT in some order.
The important thing is getting Thomas some rest and getting healthy. Division titles don't mean a thing, and if there's one thing this group has proven, it's that they can win game 7's on the road just as easily as they can lose them at home.
I think there is nothing like a 7 game series to spur a good rivalry although with the Sens I don't really hate them. It is kind of like the Flyers for me-hate them when we play them, but generally like them when they play other teams.
I actually think a Sens/Bruins series could be fairly entertaining.
I think it is doubtful the Bruins get past the 2nd round this year though-Pens and Rangers are both teams playing really well and the Bruins just can't seem to beat Hank at all although in the last Bruins/Rangers game the B's were starting to find some opportunity they just gave up the game.
Looks like they will most likely be playing in the Playoffs, if its either 7th or 2nd, who knows.
The B's have been due for a series with the Sens.
Agreed, if this team were playin the Sens tomorrow, I`d put money on the Sens as much as it pains me to say that, if this team meets come playoff time, and our boys get a bit of health, the Sens youth will show.
They have had a great season and I`ll be honest, nice to see, they have some vets with loads of playoff experience but come playoff time, all that youth and inexperience will catch up and the B`s would beat em.
I have absolutely NO issue with our Bruins starting things on the road in the playoffs, I`m a big believer and there is more than a bit of evidence that this team has much better focus on the road and play simple and it often leads to stronger games.
Anyone ever seen a game in Ottawa??? Not exactly a barn with rabid fans, playoffs or not, and I say that as an Ottawa born, former season tix holder
Truth be told, we don't hate you guys, but look up to you guys for the way you continue to pound and pilage the leafs.
The Bruins is where the Sens want to be - class in the east, bar none.
That said...we're gonna be all over Timmy!
As for Ottawa being "quiet"...not this year. Expectations were at an all time low and we weren't expecting to be where we are now. There's a frenzy about this team this year that is completely different. This is an insanely hard working team, the majority of which are no-names to the rest of the league (with the exception of Spezza-Karlsson-Alfie-Phillips-Neil). This is a team that has played it's heart out...absolutely no question.
don't think you guys are gonna blow the lead, and if we don't have the choice, but to play the Bruins, then I say, giddy-up! Impossible not to respect the Bruins, especially due to the cup and number of ex-Sens on your team.
We had a lot of love for Chara, especially when he came back for the ASG. Gonna be amazing to see that atmosphere switch in a matter a few short months...
Playing with house money is fun - see ya' in the playoffs.
Giddy up sounds like a quote I heard alot in Elmira from one RYAN ZOHR from Renfrew
Well if the team that went to Florida is the team that finishes the season then they are going to be lucky if they still make the playoffs.
If the Bruins can find their game again, they will be okay, although I believe they probably just handed Ottawa the division title.
I don't see the team winning the Flyers game on Saturday. Not the way they are currently playing, and I am not sure they have the answers. I think the injuries have hurt, but I also think there is a mental wall and the team either overcomes it and starts playing like the Bruins we all know.
before tonight I said we'd go 5-8 to end the season. 93 points.
We've got one of the 8 loses now.
There's a legit chance we miss the playoffs. Absolutely.
Legit chance? Are you serious?
The Bruins would need to get passed by Flo (2pts up), Wsh (5pts up) and one of Buf (8pts up) or Win (9pts up) for that nightmare scenario to happen.
Even without considering that Flo-Wsh-Win will beat themselves as they have a couple head-to-head games remaining, just take a look at Buf+Win because one of them HAS to pass us:
Buffalo has 75pts with 11 games remaining so a MAX of 97pts if they go 11-0-0. The Bruins would have to be 7-4-1 to reach 98pts. Not likely the way they are playing but even less likely Buf goes 11-0-0...
Winnipeg is at 74pts with 12 games remaining.
The thing is, as sad as the team play is right now, there is absolutely no 'legit' chance they miss the playoffs. A remote distance nightmare little % of a chance but for that to happen, the Sabres/Jets have to win 5 more games than the Bruins in the last 12...
Worst case is 7-8th place. Best case is 2nd or 3rd. We'll see... Only 12 more games before the losses start to matter...
