Everyone here needs some rest and time to unangry themselves. Trading Kopitar is nonsense at this point for any logical trade. What we need is to add some depth in an Okposo or a Kulemin (Martinez+pick for Okposo, Kulemin would be Penner+picks) and trade some extra pieces that are valuable but availible for a Carter. If you cant get Carter than go to Dallas about Michael Ryder. If the rumors over Ott and Ribeiro are true Ryder will be on the block. Penner and Stoll go, along with Richardson or Lewis. And yes, Ryder can score as long as he gets a good role.

And you have (for offense)

Carter/Ryder-Kopitar-Williams
Kulemin/Okposo-Richards-Brown
Gagne-Loktionov-King/Nolan
Clifford-Fraser-Nolan/King
Westgarth/Lewis

If thats our roster heading into 2012-13, and King, Fraser, Mitchell all resign for what they make now at max, there'd be about 10 mil in space unless I did it wrong.

But first, I am curious to see how Stamkos would do without St louis.
Second, do you really think that TB would trade him for Kopitar? You are saying that the kings could trade Kopitar to get someone better, If kopitar is a downgrade, then why would TB take that deal?
Of course TB would NEVER trade him. That's the point. Our fanbase has the impression that Kopi is superior or just better suited for our team and that's just simply not true.

Stamkos on any team is better than Kopitar.

It's kind of sad that I have to explain this to you, but I'll briefly summarize. He's matched up against the best players in the NHL every night and is an incredible defensive force with both his reads and his body size/positioning. He plays PK, he plays late in games holding a crucial lead. He's finished 9th in Selke voting, right behind Mike Richards. He does things on the checking side of the game that don't show up on the score sheet, and neither can I hold your hand and make you see it. If you don't see why Kopitar is an elite two-way forward, there's nothing for me or anyone else here to tell you.

In your Defense, if a deal along the lines of Stastny/Landeskog was offered for Kopitar. I would take that deal.

It won't happen, but that is a realistic return. That I think would better the Team..

That is my opinion though.

You said he wouldnt be nearly impossible to replace. Maybe it wasnt the word "easy", but your post sounded like you were saying it wouldnt be that hard to do. But a lot of us are still waiting for those players that can replace him.

Again, I stopped reading after the bolded.

When Zeus was here, his line was matched up against the top line more often than not.

And this year, Richards line has played that role just as much if not more.

Right, Kopitar is never on the ice against top lines ever... ok...

Also, he plays the PK buddy

Stamkos would make an excellent 2 way defense forward in our current system, good for about 20-25 goals if he doesn't lose icetime for being too creative. /sarcasm

Not really, cause other people have been asking for that list of players that could replace kopitar, so apparently they thought you were sayin it wouldnt be too hard to replace him either. BTW, where is that list?

And i highly doubt that anyone would deny a deal that would make this team better. IF a deal with kopitar came along that definitely made this team better, then of course you do it. But the chances of that happening is slim.

Trading Kopitar would be idiotic. You never get fair return in those types of trades. Lets wait and see how the team performs under a competent coach before we blow it up.

Kopitar just needs to stop playing on the perimeter, every single time. Looks like he forgot how to drive down the middle.

I love Kopitar. I have his jersey.

But I think he's overrated around the league and overpaid. I wouldn't like to see him traded, but at this point it would probably be a shrewd move depending on the return.

I can't believe you need this explained to you.

How many faceoffs does Stamkos take in the defensive zone?

How often is Stamkos on the ice when the other team's top line is out there?

Does Stamkos kill penalties?

A trade needs to happen, just so we can stop talking all this silliness!

Honestly, I think if something major happens it'll be tomorrow or friday.

That coming from a guy that traded away Luongo, Chara, Bertuzzi, drafted Dipietro 1st overall over Heatley & Gaborik, dealt the 2nd overall pick (Spezza) for Yashin, and beat a guy in the stands with a shoe.
What Milbury says should be taken with a grain of salt.

Exactly. Milbury is a moron. It's like when all these NFL shows have Matt Millen, former Lions GM, on to evaluate prospects and provide analysis. Both have failed miserably as GM's and have made terrible personnel decisions.

Milbury hates any hockey player that doesn't play a "balls to the wall physical game" and is obsessed with size, toughness, and grinding more than skill. He hates guys like Jeff Carter who have size but also have a great amount of skill and prefer to use their skating ability and skill sometimes rather than throw their body around every single shift. That's why he hated Chara. A 6 foot 9 guy that actually has skills and likes to skate/move the puck? Not gonna fly. He should just be mauling people every time he's on the ice.

That's why you see Milbury trade talented/smaller/"perimeter" players like Ziggy Palffy and Robert Reichel who were all of 5'10" 185 for guys like Brad Isbister, Mathieu Biron, Josh Green, Olli Jokinen. All of those guys are 6'3" or bigger and 210+ pounds.

Obviously, you all know how that worked out for him. The guy is a moron.
