I had never heard that song before so hubby played it for me.
And the image in my head of the locker room dancing to that song after wins is super hilarious.
yes but his confidence has been shaky at best this season on the ice. i hope it's finally beginning to click for him with the Avs and he goes on a tear.

some things should never be said. you should have stopped there.
players like him always have a team that keeps on overplaying them above their station and overvaluing them in contracts.
he does not need to come back, ever, ever, ever.

They're just not ready and just haven't generated enough offense to make up for their defensive play.
As crazy as it sounds, I really would take Clark back at this point, as long as the organization doesn't get crazy and re-sign him. Winnik is very important to the Avs PK, and it may even be better for them to keep Jones to hope for the odd goal, since Hejduk just isn't doing anything offensive at all, and Duchene looks a bit gimpy.
Just get a decent pending UFA defenseman without giving up too much, and then look for a better longterm option in the summer, like Carle.
I'd play Hunwick over Elliott and Barrie as well. He's no defensive dynamo, but he doesn't get himself in as much trouble in his own end as those two. Their positioning, and reaction to the faster game just isn't good enough right now, and they're not really getting many offensive chances for themselves.
Could not agree more. I've no wish to bring back any been-there-done-that players. Not Clark, not Hannan. Even if both are still viable NHL defensemen, they're both 5/6 guys. We have more than enough of those. We need to start building toward the best top-4 we can put together. You won't get there with Brett Clark. He was a stopgap measure who overstayed his welcome because Francois Giguere is an idiot.
A lot of that had to do with seemingly everyone in Avs coaching staff thinking Clark was a 1st pairing defensemen. He was pretty good as a bottom pairing guy.
Considering how crappy Hunwick, Wilson, and (yes) Elliott are, I'd saying adding a veteran for insurance wouldn't be the worst idea if the Avalanche are serious about making the playoffs this season.

I'd be 100% against any rentals, especially if they are all but assured not to re-sign.

I'm pretty sure I just read that you said Elliott, arguably Avs best defensive prospect, with 11 points in 32 games at plus 3, while taking minimal penalty minutes is crappy? Wow man.
If you average that out over the season, he's around 30 points, and plus 9 odd.
Did you know Mike Green got 12 points in 70 games in his 1st NHL season. He was a rookie, but he had that pedigree.
Man, give the kid some time. He set records in the juniors.

Elliott's been pretty bad defensively. Also, he's not saying Elliott won't be a good defenseman, just that he's not currently playing well, and a veteran defenseman would give the Avs a better chance to make the playoffs.

Speaking of Giguere, evidently he got hired as the GM of Edmonton and none of us knew it. They just signed Hemsky to a $5M per year extension. Dude has 5 goals this season.

According to their fans that's a steal of a deal since Hemsky is a 70 point player.

He's right.
At least in terms of analyzing every aspect of Elliott's game, minus when Elliott has the puck in the offensive zone. That part of his game is nice. All other parts of his game need a lot of work.
He looks like he has the tools, but isn't playing the game terribly well over 3/4ths of the ice.
According to Dater "Scouts from Bruins, Flyers, Rangers, Devils, Sharks, Penguins and Lightning at CBJ tonight. #Mcleodsweepstakes"
I suspect the Rangers and Sharks were there for Nash/Columbus. Pittsburgh there for Jones, maybe? The Bruins and Flyers there for McLeod? Not sure what the Devils would be looking for.

Someone else they could overpay for. I still cannot believe Zidlicky got such a return.
