No, it's not a good thing at all. It shows he has a sense of entitlement, which is something Burke has been trying to remove from his players and the organization.
Do you think Colborne should be sulking because he was a first round pick almost 4 years ago and is still playing in the AHL? Should Frattin be sulking because he's a 24 year old who is currently lighting the AHL up, but management chooses to play underperforming players like Lombardi and Armstrong?
No they shouldn't, and they're not. These guys realize that you have to earn everything you are given as a professional hockey player, and they have aspects of their game that needs work before they can play full time with the Leafs. They have shown nothing but class and professionalism, not letting a childish attitude affect their play on the ice.
Honestly I wouldn't lose any sleep if Kadri is traded for an impact player. His little act of stick tapping on the power play and neutral zone turnovers is getting pretty old.
I agree to a point.
Firstly, yes he does seem to have a bit of a sense of entitlement, which is generally a quality you dont want to see. However, his case is different.
The difference between Kadri and Colborne and Frattin is that Kadri has had to face the Toronto media, and blue chip scrutiny since he was drafted. He also for the most part has outperformed each at every respective level. Kadri made the WJC, was a dominant OHL star in his 2 years with London, and has been one of the best if not THE best Marlie since turning pro 2 years ago. He didnt aquire these accolades on talent alone, he had to work hard, and he earned them on merit.
Another difference is the chance Kadri has been given. Frattin was given a very long look with the Leafs, and while he definitely didnt look out of place, his production wasnt great. Colborne was given a relatively average look at the big leagues, but developmentally he is behind both. Last year in the AHL (obviously he had 2 part) he didnt look bad at all, but was far from a star.
The point is that Kadri has been shuffled around the Marlies and the Leafs almost as often as Aaron Palushaj, and his most recent send down was most certainly not based on merit.

You realize Colborne hasn't produced since going down, right? Hey, maybe he's got bad attitude too and entitled to a NHL job!
He's said all the right things since going down but people sure like to make **** up like he has bad/childish attitude without know ANYTHING about him.
Has he produced much since going down? No, but that could just be a bad streak but no, people HAVE to assume like he is childish and totally sulking down there.
I am extremely biased when it comes to Kadri, but as a hockey fan he has impressed me both on TV and in the 1 Leafs game I went to this season where he scored the winning goal against Buffalo. Sure he falls a lot, and maybe has some questionable decision making, but he has shown he is very creative, can play the body, and shows heart out there, something that a lot of players on the current roster lack. I don't want to see him traded, both as a personal fan and a hockey fan. I think he will prove the doubters wrong in the coming seasons. At least see what he does next year (the last year on his contract), and if Burke has given up on him, then make the trade then.
What are we basing this "sulking" argument on? Just his numbers? Or do you have some quotes from himself or his coaches alluding to this fact? Because in the interviews of his I've watched and heard, he very clearly mentioned that he wants to play here for a long time and that he understands the situation right now. He's overly scrutinized at every turn.
I have no clue but maybe it can be from him looking like he doesn't give a damn out there sometimes. Idk if people on here consider that sulking or not.
From what I've seen from the games I've watched, Colborne and Frattin play a much more mature game and put in much more effort than Kadri. It's just my opinion....but I stand by it.
From time to time, he looks amazing. But there's a lot of stupid and heartless play in between. He reminds me a lot of tim Connolly and a younger Jason Spezza.

I respect your opinion, but I don't understand why we have to compare our prospects. If one of them is to be involved in a trade, then preference is okay as to who people want that guy to be. But those 3 could realistically be line-mates in 2-3 seasons, and if that happens, hopefully they would all compliment each other, not be individually better than one another. Especially when they all play a different game.

We don't have to compare prospects, but we like to because this is a speculative forum.
I absolutely agree that the best case scenario is that they all work out great and complement each other; and I want that.
But when we have a large contingent of fans asking why he hasn't been called up every time we lose; I try to see the reasons for that; and I think I see those reasons.
I've certainly seen Leivo better this year, as he had just an OK game. He may only be listed at 6'1, but he looks much bigger on the ice and he's very hard to remove from the puck. His puck protection is very good and he has the hands to be able to avoid stick checks on his way to the net (as the poster above alluded to).
As for his play away from the puck, that's not usually an issue for Leivo. This was the 4th game in 6 days for the Wolves (a crazy stretch by OHL standards) and he got banged up pretty good in the Brampton game yesterday (with what looked like a hand or shoulder injury). I was a little surprised he played today actually. So that could explain why he looked a little tentative without the puck today.
He's progressed very well this year though and looks like a solid pick up.
Yeah, I shouldn't infer too much on one game and fatigue may have been a factor. Just something I didn't feel like sugarcoating considering all 3 of us at the game couldn't help but notice it haha. Though we all came away impressed overall, I had no idea he had hands like that.
Seems to be a late bloomer so he could improve at an accelerated pace over the next couple years, so I'm pretty optimistic.
People are worried about Kadri because even though he has all kinds of skill he's scored just 33 goals in 123 pro games and has yet to really improve his strength and balance, the two things holding him back most.
On the other hand, none of the forwards picked after him have progressed much further either, so unless you think Burke should've taken Marcus Johansson or Ryan O'Reilly instead there's no need to throw him under the bus.
In regards to Kadri, the team has been winning and unlike all the other times he's been playing in the AHL he's not required to be the main point producer. When the team gets the lead I don't think Eakins wants him out there pressing hard to put up points; they are in the playoff hunt and defending leads. Pretty obvious. Anyways, the guy got player of the month in the AHL this year and his coach said he's probably the most dangerous offensive player in the whole league; I don't think there is much to worry about there. The guy was projected to be a full time Leaf this year and he's been bounced back and forth once again, and in this case it's looking like he'll play even fewer NHL games this season then last. It's gotta be very disheartening for a player that has worked hard over the years, put up great numbers in the A (until recently), and played quite well (according to Ron Wilson) on the Leafs.
I think most people feel this way so this post is fairly redundant.
I don't get the hate for Kadri. Honestly, I think at this point in the season if he was on a team like the Oil, he'd had around 30 points. So what we are being a little patient with the guy, they are clearly being hard on him so he irons out his mistakes. It's not like the talent is going to go away. With a guy with Naz, who has a tendency to make a boneheaded mistake every so often, you have to be hard on him so he stops.
I think we could use him right now, but they have their own way of developing him. He's obviously getting it a bit harder than any other prospect but he looks better each call up because of it. How much more physical was he in his last call up? How much more willing to score was he in the last call up? How much more willing to dump it in rather than carry it in his last call up? He's improved greatly every call up, yet Leaf fans brush it off because he isn't sticking in the NHL yet.
This. You guys are hilarious, he proved to be NHL-ready in his recent callup and only got sent down because he didn't have to pass waivers.
On top of that he is younger and has easily more potential then Joe and Frattin.
Man, this fanbase even needs a scapegoat in their prospect pool.

Its brutal...I don't get it. The fanbase goes nuts when we dump young players or top picks but seems like we dont give them time to develop. I cant believe folk on here are saying they want this kid traded. He dominated in his first camp and deserved to make the team, he's done everything asked of him since.
Bottom line, he deserves to be in the Leaf lineup NOW....he is good enough, but is caught in a numbers game. Same thing with Frattin.
Everyone is expecting Kadri to dominate in the AHL but people are forgetting he isnt there to pile up points, he is there to work on his weaknesses. Im not giving up on him and I'm very confident he'll be a top player in the NHL one day.

We have to give him time and stop thinking he's too good for development.
Lots of players have done as well as he has in the AHL, including Leafs in the past. Tlusty is now finally getting it and he had 66 points in 66 games as a 20 year old.
Hopefully he'll appreciate it when he's good enough to knock someone out of the top 6, and unless you are putting up big points it is more than just putting up some points.
Players in the NHL have all worked hard to get there so working hard is not something unique.
Have patience, let him become a better player (mandatory for a 21 year old), and when there is an opportunity he'll get another chance.

He's a scout's dream in the way he prepares himself and plays an unselfish game, making smart decisions with the puck. With his bloodlines, he certainly understands what it will take to make it at the next level.
I didn't really think D'amigo was all that special and thought he was gonna be a bust but after seeing him yesterday he looks like he can be a very good 3rd line player for us in the future.
Only in his third pro season has Cody Hodgson started to me an impact with the Canucks. Kadri is in his second. I anticipate him donning the Blue and White all season long next year.

I thought he's had really good hustle every time I've watched him. I'm just not sure how he is at a third line game.....
Another guy who really impressed me is Ryan Hamilton. Not at all fancy, but a really hard worker. I wouldn't mind seeing him called up at all for the third line - I think he might actually do well. He's also got some decent size (6'2", 220).Then again, he'd have to clear waivers...

I agree that we have to give him Time to work on his game. All I'm saying is that he could play in the NHL right now and I don't get the hate for this kid.
This is the only fanbase that I'm a part of, and that I've come into contact with, that openly bashes, roots against, and completely falsifies $h!t about their prospects because of a personal disliking.
You wanna talk about a sense of entitlement? read some of the posts around here. The disease is worse among the fanbase than it is in the organization, by a mile.
Some of you whine and complain that the organization makes decisions that you didn't like, and not just immediately after, but for years! (see: Kessel trade). You wanna talk about sulking?? hahahah. It's a joke. I'm not sure how old the average poster is here, but judging by the whining and complaining that goes on, I would have to guess between 8-15.
Instead of hoping and praying that the organization trades someone, so you can quickly come here and bombard the rest of the rational members about how you were right, and you knew it all along, why don't you cheer for the kids, whether it be Kadri, McKegg, Gardiner, Frattin, Ross, etc.? Why don't so many of you want to see these kids succeed and become vital parts of the organization? I'll tell you a few people who want these kids to succeed, and who DOES believe in most, if not all of them..... Brian Burke, Dave Nonis, Dave Poulin, Rick Dudley, Ron Wilson, and Dallas Eakins. I don't exactly have to explain the difference between that group there, and the one here.
You know what acting childish is? Pretending to know about the way a kid acts behind closed doors, and pretending you know just what he's thinking, IE: "Kadri is sulking and is too entitled to take his development seriously" or "His attitude sucks, we should trade him, because he's a cancer". SHUT THE FRONT DOOR with that garbage. YOU DO NOT HAVE A *!$%ing CLUE about ANY of that. Dallas Eakins, the coach charged with Kadri's development, has stated multiple times, that Naz is down there working hard, improving his game, and hoping to get the call and stick up there. Naz himself has said multiple times, that yes, it's difficult to get sent down, despite his play, but he realizes that often-times, that's the nature of the game when it comes to waivers and contracts.
GET OVER IT. The kid has a ton of talent, more heart than you find in most of our NHL lineup, and he's a hard worker who wears emotion on his sleeve.
Cheer for him to improve and make an impact, rather than cheering against him because you wanted us to pick MPS (because he's really made it....)
Any update with the swedish goalie erixson or the big college Dman 6'7"? If Burke can be assured of signing these two fellas, maybe we could trade Gus or Reim and Aulie for some upgrade elsewhere.
I didn't really think D'amigo was all that special and thought he was gonna be a bust but after seeing him yesterday he looks like he can be a very good 3rd line player for us in the future.
He was a 7th round pick and you are bringing in the word bust?

Yeah, I'm not sure what they're basing this "sulking" on. It kind of matches with what everyone keeps saying about his "bad attitude" which is also based on nothing.
Even if he is "sulking", Kadri actually has a reason. He is called up, performs well, and then with 1 or 2 "bad" games, he's banished to the 3rd line with 9-12 minutes a game and no PP time. Then, he's sent down and scrubs like Lombardi and Armstrong who bring NOTHING to this team take his place.
I love Kadri but he still needed to be a little less selfish with his ice time. Always seemed to milk the last few secs on his shifts. Love his hands and style of play as its my favourite way to play- highlight reel moves, he still needs maturity. Cant hurt to have his RFA barganing position knocked down a notch to re-sign him for cheaper though. Hope he stays!
