This is what I would do...

Trade Andreas Lilja, 2012 4th round pick and 2012 7th round pick for Bryan Allen

Trade 2012 3rd round pick (SanJose) and 2012 5th for Paul Gaustad

Trade 2013 3rd round pick and B prospect for Travis Moen

Waive or Trade Jody Shelley

Lineup would look like this

Hartnell Giroux Jagr
JVR Briere Simmonds
Read Schenn Voracek
Moen Couts Talbot
Gaustad

Timonen Cobourn
Carle Kubina
Grossman Meszaros
Allen

Bryz
Bob

I hope you're not serious with this.

Instead of bashing the OP, why don't you tell us what you would do. I'm pretty sure that would contribute to more to the discussion than a help sign and a facepalm. But maybe that's just me?

Probably go on a sweet vacation that I can't afford. Maybe take in a few games from the owner's box. Just stuff I normally wouldn't get a chance to do.

EDIT: Definitely grab a bunch of authentic jerseys. Get some cool memorabilia and such.

So we'd trade for Gaustad and put him in the pressbox, same with O'Brien and I assume Allen, because Carle isn't being scratched....yeah great idea.

I can see you're goal is to get bigger and tougher...which is all good and well until you see that none of the players acquired are top 9 players, and will get minimal ice time if we're losing a game.

Also, Shane O'Brien is still god awful. We don't want him.

If I were Homer, I'd stand pat from this point on. Keep your youth, keep your strong D, hope your goalies regain focus, and see to it that everyone starts picking up their defensive assignments.

I'd do nothing.

Certainly not having a $2.5M forward as the spare of Carle as an extra defenseman.

I'd tweak a bit in hopes of getting a few home gates in the playoffs.

If homer planned to stay pat and build around the youth for the future and not make any moves necessary to make a run for the cup, he wouldn't have picked up grossman and kubina.

I expect significant moves before next Monday's deadline.

I'd like them to trade for Jonathan Bernier or Cory Schnieder and deal Bobrovsky and Carle.

I was not trying to get a top 9 forward. I think we got alot of those guys already. I was trying to add more depth on the 4th line.. guys that can go out on the PK and block shots so we dont have to use Giroux killing penalties and and Obrien trade only if carle is dealt..you gotta have someone sitting in the press box and the way the flyers have had soo many injuries this year

Do nothing, other than getting another defensive forward. Cheap.

And that's a MAYBE.

I just don't understand all these people on here thinking there's any chance the team does nothing. When have we ever done nothing? Homer has already made it clear that he doesn't intend to sell or stay pat by getting kubina and grossman

Take phone calls only. Other than that, unless someone knocks my socks off with a deal. I stand pat.

We've got two good goaltenders who are playing like crap, defensive depth and toughness was seen as an issue w/o Pronger, as well as a lack of a RH shot...they've been addressed. The only thing that might need to be addressed at forward is a depth forward to can PK and win faceoffs, and we've already missed out on Moore.

just curious on that last part..

if you deal for Schnieds, and say he comes in and plays decent (better then anything we've seen this season), what do you do with Bryz ???

bench him for the duration ??

if so, why not just deal away Bryz at any cost and keep bob instead ???

It's an NHL 12 type of world.

****, I don't even know if those trades would work on NHL 12.

I would literally do none of those trades, without even mentioning that it wouldn't work cap wise

I think Homer is a top 3 GM in this league.......I see him keeping his powder dry until he see's something that He and Mr snider think will increase our clubs chances to win it all this season.Mr Snider is not a young man and time is not on his side.....I think the Grossman and Kubina deals were solid ones as do many who understand professional hockey.
I know many think homer is dumb, aloof, stupid, blah, blah blah, especially with the way Bryz has panned out so far etc But i do not remember too many folks saying Bryz was a terrible goalie, or that he was not a solid # 1 netminder etc when it was announced he was signed ? Things happen, especially when ones confidence gets shook up..I still say this club has as good a shot as any other in the league to win the cup this year......Just need a little luck, as do all of the other clubs....Its all about working the kinks out and getting Hot at the right time.

If he is Catholic, light a few candles

If Rastafarian, light something else

If Santerian, visit a witch doctor

If Protestant, do nothing

If Hindu, think about the Kama Sutra

If Shinto, visit ancestors shrine

If Muslim, count your virgins

If Jewish, make reservations

There are no atheist GM's in sports

PHILADELPHIA FLYERS: $890k to $1.47m

The Flyers exhausted much of their space when they took on close to $5.5 million in the cap hits of Pavel Kubina and Nicklas Grossman. A demotion, such as Eric Wellwood, would give them close to $1.5 million.

Allen 736,757
Gaustad 584,324
Moen 381,000

Total = 1,702,081

drop Shelley 279,459
drop Lilja 187,365
total = 466,824 plus the 1,470,000 = 1,936,824

1,936,824 - 1,702,081 =234,743

it looks like it would works...please tell me if Im wrong though...maybe its just the way im looking at it
