Eaton asks Garth Snow for trade?

On the sportsnet broadcast the Sens announcer said Mark Eaton has asked for a trade.

What would you give for a bottom pairing defenseman whose won the Cup recently?

Have to think Garth easily takes a 2nd for Eaton at this point. Forget the +.

I'll never forget Eaton's 4 goals in the '09 playoffs. I wouldn't take him back though.

He'd be a good fit in Corvo's place on Boston IMO. Move Corvo for a 4th and get Eaton for a 2013 3rd.

I thought a writer had tweeted after the Hamonic injury ,that Snow was shopping Eaton. It pissed some fans off, saying it was lousy timing on Snow's part.

I hate to say it, but the second round picks are the candy this year. GM's aren't running to give up their first round picks, but you see the names that are getting a second round pick plus. I mean, Gill got more this year as a rental than he got four years ago when Pittsburgh picked him up and he still had a year on his contract. It's just a crazy market for these defensemen, and there's not much left for everyone else. Eaton? Spacek? Allen? Seriously, what is there? It's all supply and demand . . . someone will pay a 2nd for Eaton.

Islanders fan's can correct me if my perception is wrong, but Eaton looks pretty much done when I see him these days...

If the Bruins really want to move Corvo I would just take him to be honest. I like him, but for whatever reason every team that has him complains about him. He's a top-4 defenseman, right?

I don't know, I thought he played okay. Nothing special, but that's what his game has always been like. A 2nd is probably overpayment. I don't expect more than a 3rd/4th (not both, one or the other).

How has his play been this season? Caught the Carolina game and he had a brutal turnover that led to a goal and didn't look good overall.

Hawks may be interested if he'd be an improvement over Lepisto/O'Donnell and I suppose a 2nd is the going rate these days...

Eaton is decent... He had an awful turnover at the Canes Isles game the other day that lead to a goal

Still, better than Corvo. I'll take him, I dont think we have a 2nd this year though

If the penguins trade somebody like niskanen I can see us picking him up for a lower end pick like a 4th.

I figured Boston would be interested in one of Staios, Jurcina or Eaton.

Hit or miss. First year he was as solid as can be but was injury riddled. This year he has been healthy but is prone to bad games, even stretches. I think Eaton is definitely worth a 3rd round pick. Teams need defensive upgrades, plain and simple and Eaton is a good low cost option.

Vancouver would offer up Alberts + NYI 4th

EDIT: Alberts is a bottom pairing defenceman signed through next season, would the Isles be looking for one back?

Some team may pay up with the idea that Eaton is a guy who can help eat minutes in the playoffs. His game is simple and makes him easy to work in on any team. He's not good, poor outlet game and no offense. But for PK work/eating defensive zone minutes, he's still a guy who will block shots and make crafty stick plays around the crease.

Not sure what Garth's plans are, he only has Streit, MacDonald and Hamonic signed on for next year but with some promising prospects like Ness, Donovan and de Haan pushing for spots (likely 1 will get a spot next year).

Campoli and Sutton landed 2nds at recent deadlines. So I wouldn't rule out a 2nd.

I'd imagine he'll only fetch a 4th or 5th, or a mid-level prospect. Although maybe a team like the Hawks will offer a Bickell-level type player.

Isles have 4 young blueliners at Bridgeport. They don't need bottom pairing d-men.They need a quality, top 4 to play with Streit/Hamonic/MacDonald.

Their own cheap youngsters, can play bottom pairing minutes.

At one point in the broadcast Potvin brought Mark Howe and Peter Mahovlich into the broadcast booth's camera view- they were sitting nearby- and said that both were scouting Jurcina...what would Philly or Florida give up?

3rd?
