CHI/COL Michael Frolik for Jan Hejda

Chicago sends Frolik to Colorado for Hejda.

Hejda helps solidify the Hawks 3rd pairing with a big bodied capable PKer who hits and blocks shots.

Frolik becomes a reclamation project for a team who has had success with them through the years and Colorado also has a lot of pending FAs at forward, this gives them a guy locked up and young moving forward.

Not a bad proposal. Hawks say yes, they had interest in Hejda last year.

I don't think the Hawks would be interested in Hejda's contract.

The Hawks would be perfectly fine with his contract, its only 1 mil more per than Frolik. Also depending on how things finish for the season, in the offseason, the Hawks would potentially look at moving either Hejda or Hjalmarsson.

Didn't even think of the contract. $3.3 mil for how many more years?

We probably won't trade Hejda for awhile, considering we did just sign him for four years, would seem like a **** move to trade him so soon.

I actually like Hejda a lot for his price. He's a steady stay at home type. Isn't going to score a lot of points but isn't going to blow games for you either.

I would probably take the move. Hejda is alright for what he does, but Frolik does have skill, and it's not like the Avs dont' have several quality defensive prospects coming down the pipe

I think I'd do this deal depending on how sure I was Elliott/Barrie were ready for full time NHL minutes.

Hunwick could play. He's not good, but he could play.

I certainly could get on board with this trade. Hejda is good, but I like the D-men we have coming up in the system, and help up front is a more pressing necessity.

I should add that I feel Barrie looked solid in his time with the team. Wasn't perfect, but with the rest of this year, a summer, and another training camp/preseason to develop, I think he can make the jump full time.

It's very uncommon that teams trade guys they signed as a UFA the summer before. Besides, Avs are probably happy with the way Hejda is playing after a rough first month and a half.

I like it for the Hawks and I'd do it automatically, but I don't think the Avs pull the trigger. Hejda's had a rough year but the Avs as a whole team have struggled mightily at points this season.

I don't think the Avs want to get rid of one of their best defensemen, especially if it means getting an overpaid forward back in return. I think the Avs want to get better on defense, actually, so adding a defenseman rather than subtracting a good one is more likely for them IMO. That is unless they believe Elliott/Barrie are ready for full-time NHL minutes.

I think the difference between Hejda and Barrie is night and day. One of them is an offensive d-man and one is a defensive guy. I wouldn't call Barrie a replacement (or even Elliott). More like Gaunce or Wilson. For that reason, I wouldn't trade Hejda.

I think for that reason, Chicago passes.

They'd have no room for Olsen, who looks just about ready for full-time NHL duty.

I would do it as an Avs fan but I am not high on Hejda at all since Shane O'Brien has turned out to be a staple on the team. Hard to pick Hejda over Wilson either.. You could actually probably take one for Frolik+2nd. The thing is neither are UFAs. A RFA and a good cap hit for a big stay at home at 3.2M.

Avs aren't going to trade a player they've signed to a long term deal this past offseason.

I think Hejda is a big part of our improved PK. Don't think we should trade him for a reclamation project. I guess the value is close though.

Is Hejda worth this little? He's a pretty solid player.

Look fair for both sides. I've always liked Hejda, I'd do this deal.
