Penticton beat the Trail Smoke Eaters 10-0 last night to win their 41st game in a row, setting a new North American junior hockey record. Congrats Penticton!!
Means nothing now. They lost last night in overtime to a determined Chilliwack Chiefs team and the first round series is tied 1-1 going to Game 3 in Chilliwack on Monday night.
I'm so glad I got to see the looks on the faces of those Vees fans last night after that shocking win. It was like walking out of a funeral.
But just like the 42 wins in a row, that one win means nothing now. The Chiefs played a great 1-2-2 system and their goaltender stood on his head late and into overtime and that won't be easy to keep up over the next few games. Good luck to the Chiefs, they're going to need some.
But a sweet win last night for the kids from The Wack.
Playing .500 hockey so far through the first four games of the NEW season. Chilliwack is giving the Vees all they can handle and this series is tied at 2 going back to Penticton for Game 5 on Thursday night.

The record was and still is 42. Penticton tied it, they didn't beat it.
Somebody needs to let the folks in Penticton know this. They can't stop mentioning the 42 in a row.....and here's hoping for another shocking Chiefs win tonight to put the Vees on the ropes. Unlikely, but one can hope.
