Good luck Oates. I loved his enthusiasm behind the bench but he left a bit to be desired when it came to the PP. OVerall, I liked him here.

Wish him well..

It will be interesting to see how he handles Ovechkin.

Good luck Oatsie. Don't pull a Maclean. Actually, please do!

We will always have this great moment to remember you by

Good luck to him in Washington, I'm kind of indifferent about him leaving here. Hopefully we'll find an assistant who is better at running the PP.

Glad we're keeping the brain behind our record-setting penalty kill in Barr (although he may have been drunk in the playoffs?)

The players here seemed to like him here as an assistant and his openness is something several of the guys talked to TG about

Best of luck to him in Wsh

All the best to oates.in.our nations capital. Like everyone else, I'm interested to see who joins the staff in his place. Will.Lou pull.someone outta left field like.he did when he brought in Oates or he scoops.up.someone everyone knows.is out.there???

Another way to look at this - Unlike years past when assistants were groomed to replace head coaches with the revolving door, Adam Oates left here. That's good - it shows that everyone knows/thinks Pete's here to stay.

I don't see it having a impact at all on our team. If we can actually find someone that will bring more then one wrinkle to our PP, it'll be a positive just cause of that.

Oates won out in D.C. over Mike Haviland and Jon Cooper, who both made impressive bids for the job.

Curious, other than Haviland being a Jersey guy, what was the reason(s) for the interest in him when we were HC searching the past 2 off seasons?

He was a pretty good assistant in Chicago. Other than that, I'm not sure why.

Meh, he didn't really do much other than look like Ray Liotta. I'm indifferent. We can do better, we can do worse.

He's a great coach. Not another Maclean, and he'll do well with what he's been given in Washington. The guy also was responsible for the great powerplay in the playoffs that everyone forgets because of the LA series.
