Wait! What about a Tavartrick prediction?

Actually, only a couple more weeks until spring training. But I'm a Mets fan, so there won't be much relief from the Islanders.

Doesn't matter which goalie, Poulin or Al, starts as shown in recent events. We will get scored upon many many times.

I hope we can at least score tonight.

We lose 5-1.

Great GDT Law, brings back memories.

I don't have the greatest feeling toward tonight's game. This 'flu' bug that going around couldn't have come at a worse time.

I'm also a Mets fan and yet, for some inexplicable reason, I can't wait for the season to start.

As for my routine tavartrick predictions, the last time I made one was that game against Carolina a few days ago when Tavares ended up one goal shy of a tavartrick. I don't want to press my luck.

I can't wait for the season to start either. The way I look at the upcoming season: it's either going to be one of the worst seasons ever, or it will be a surprisingly good one.

This is because, to me, there isn't one player you can rely or depend on. Santana is returning from surgery, as are some other pitchers, you don't know how Wright and Bay are going to do, Davis and Murphy also returning from injuries, the catchers are a ?, tejada filling in for Reyes is also a ?, you don't know how the bullpen will be, especially Parnell. So yeah, I'm excited to see what they can do, but it can either be really good or unbearable to watch.

Anyway, back to tonights game - Tavares with an assist (PA scores - still pissed the hell of from last game) but no goals. Grabner will finish on a breakaway for once. But Isles lose 4-2.

If Weight is the bench boss tonight, will he start the "Lack Of Energy Line" Rolston-Reasoner-Pando. That should jump start us.

I'll be with the team in spirit tonight. I have to fly to San Francisco for a Mazda commercial, so I'm going to miss the game completely (for the 2nd time this year, I missed the Winnipeg game when half the team got a concussion).

I don't feel too confident with Nabby still out with the flu.

Any chance we can infiltrate the Rangers dressing room with the bug, before friday night's game?

I'm sorry folks, but he's gone. He will not be an Islander for much longer. If he has had the flu for 10 days and is still not well enough to travel with the team, either he needs to be in a hospital, he really isn't sick, or he simply has no desire to return to the ice.

Also, great GDT! I needed something to smile about.
In my experience working in a hospital the only people that need that long to recover are those that pick up a lung infection during the flu. Thats not many people though...

I know it seems like a long time but the first game he missed was 5 days ago 2/16, late scratch. I thought I read that the flu can last up to 5 days with fatigue and achiness persisting afterward plus potential weight loss during... I am no expert so asking, couldnt this be the issue if he is still not feeling 100% to travel after flu and some loss of strength/weight? I usually think of the flu as 2-3 days but then that is me sitting behind my desk and not playing 60minutes of dehydrating hockey under all those pads.. just asking..

just stinks that we have 4 games in 6 days as this hits.

generally you're right. but these are pro athletes receiving preferential treatment...ie iv's and such. therefore, their recovery is much quicker than the average person going with home remedies.

Great, not looking forward to this. I don't trust Weight as a coach (although our power play has been solid).

No more Brown Bags on the GDT.

I remember a few years back one whole team was plagued with menengitis. They wound up writing names on the water bottles to protect one another

This could be a reason why they are playing like crap?

I like all the excuses people are making to justify Nabokov being held out so he doesn't get injured. He's got a sign-or-trade ultimatum, and Garth doesn't wanna screw that up by Nabokov hurting his knees, not signing an extension, and then leaving as a UFA.

But let's keep talking about the super-flu.

...in what I'm sure is absolutely not a precursor to his future position with the organization.
