Last 10: Edmonton 4-4-2; Calgary 5-2-3.

Season Series: This is the fifth of six meetings between these fierce rivals. Calgary is 4-0-0 against Edmonton this season, outscoring the Oilers 16-6 along the way. The Flames have won the last nine meetings, and 10 straight at Scotiabank Saddledome.

Big Story: February has been awfully kind to the Flames, who have fought their way into playoff contention. Calgary enters Tuesday's action 5-0-3 this month, which allowed it to move into a tie for eighth place in the Western Conference with the Los Angeles Kings.

Team Scope:

Oilers: Inconsistency has plagued Edmonton this season and will certainly keep them out of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Oilers suffered their third straight loss Sunday -- a 5-2 decision against the Vancouver Canucks at Rexall Place. Edmonton has lost five of its last six games and has allowed the first goal in five straight contests.

"You can't play catch-up hockey in today's game," said veteran forward Ryan Smyth. "You have to play with pride, play for your jersey and for your job."

Flames: The remainder of February has the potential of also being kind to Calgary, as Tuesday marks the beginning of a four-game homestand. The Flames return to Scotiabank Saddledome -- where they'll play 9 of their next 12 -- after going 1-0-1 on a brief two-game trip, which concluded with a 1-0 victory at Los Angeles on Saturday.

Goaltending has played a huge role in Calgary's resurgence. Miikka Kiprusoff has allowed three or fewer goals in 11 of his last 15 starts.

"He's played as good as I've seen him play in his career -- and that's counting the Vezina year (in 2006)," captain Jarome Iginla said of Kiprusoff. "He's been outstanding all year, and he's enjoying it. He's really into it. He doesn't mind that each game is tight because he loves to compete."

Who's Hot: Magnus Paajarvi has scored twice in the last five games for Edmonton. … Flames forward Michael Cammalleri has 3 goals in his last four.

Injury Report: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (shoulder), Corey Potter (groin) and Theo Peckham (concussion) are day-to-day for the Oilers. … Mikael Backlund (shoulder), Blair Jones (ankle), Lee Stempniak (ankle), Curtis Glencross (knee), Derek Smith (ankle) and David Moss (foot) are all out for Calgary.

Stat Pack: Oilers goalie Devan Dubnyk is 0-3-1 with a 3.44 goals-against average in five career appearances against the Flames. … Edmonton has not won in Calgary since Oct. 17, 2008.

Puck Drop: "It's a step. We've been battling hard chipping away, getting a point here, point there, win here, and we feel our game is going in the right direction and we've been getting better, so we want to keep it going, but this feels good. This is the start where we want to go, and now we want to keep going. It's going to be a race down to the end and bunch of teams in there, but tonight we'll enjoy it and should. We don't think we've gotten there, by any means, but it's a big win." -- Flames captain Jarome Iginla after Saturday's 1-0 win at Los Angeles.

This is one of those games you PVR and then watch it later. Its easier to take when you can fast forward through the pain. I can't count how many times I have done that in the past couple years. Its sad actually. Living in Kelowna with the time change makes it a bit easier too.

It would be really nice to win this game and hurt the Flames PO chances but I'm surely not holding my breath. Even the Flames play with more passion in their game then we do most nights.

This one has potential to get ugly me thinks.

Anyway.....Go Oilers Go!

Every game against the flames is a big one. For everybody except the oilers players.

I would love to help play spoilers to them but we've already gave them 8 easy points.

CGY needs this one, but they like to choke so I'll say Oil 3-2.

Does it really matter?

Little Mosque on the Prairie will probably be more entertaining than the actual game.

I'm going to this game tonight. Gotta admit, I'm not super pumped about this one. I really, really hope the Oilers can find a way to win this one and help keep the Flames out of the playoffs.

I actually thought the Kings owned the Flames the other night but just couldn't find a way to beat Kiprusoff. Here's hoping we can stick it to Kipper and this mediocre squad.

I am going as well. Hopefully the boys show up tonight. I am wearing an Eberle jersey so it could be a long night of taunting.

When we are cup contenders and the Flames are still trying to squeek into the playoffs, these games are going to be a lot more fun.

We get slaughtered. Team has been playing terrible in front of Dubnyk and he's been responding by playing worse.

7-1

We haven't beaten them since the beginning of last season, we are on the road, they are in the playoff hunt so they will be amped, and Dubnyk is in a funk right now. I'm definitely using the pvr on this game

Not even worried about beating the Flames so much as I'm worried about beating Kiprusoff tonight - if he has an off-night, we have a chance. If he doesn't, it's over.

With 2 AHL goaltenders holding the fort for the next week or two. 29th place is a lock now. If Khabibulin still gets moved perhaps even 30th is still in our sights.

Go Flamers!

Unfortunately, I'll probably be taking the C-Train home. Could be a long and lonely ride on the rails home.

There isn't any more of a sure thing than an Oilers loss to the Flames.

Oilers get embarrassed 5-0 and they won't crack 20 shots.

I'm going to the game too. I just hope its competitive. But you have to find things to entertain yourself with at these games. Mine is listening in the crowd for the inevitable "Awww its that F***ing EBERLE again! Where were the defence?"

What will be the excuse if the team comes out flat and get their show run by the Flames again. If there is any time this team should come out flying it is tonight against their rivals from the south. Calgary seems to have no problem getting hyped up for these games. Would be nice if the Oilers could do the same for once. I'd start the 4th line and have Eager go crazy on who ever he is lined up against.
