It seems that you are the only one who finds it controversial and offensive... A Carolina fan... Not a Ducks fan, a Canes fan... This essentially makes it non-controvertial. I detect some serious bias in your arguements. Its becoming obvious you stretching to any length to turn this interview against Subban.
I don't know another way to say this so I'll just repeat what I said before: it's not about the Ducks. It's about Subban bringing that kind of attention on himself, even as he tries to deflect it.
I don't hate Subban at all... I think he's fun and good for the league. But seriously, there comes a point when it's on both him and his management to figure out how to stay off other teams' bulletin boards. The fact that he would single out a specific opposing team -- regardless which one it is -- as an example of an organization with no media interest, during an interview with ESPN of all outlets, suggests that he still hasn't figured out how to filter his words.

If you disagree, fine.
The simply reality is that these "words" didn't need to be filtered because they weren't controvertial at all in the first place. You are literally one of the only people who thinks so in this thread. You are really stretching yourself thin to find fault in Subban, something that I don't believe you'd do if another, equally 'controvertial' player had said it.

Hey tarheel, I think I'll have to disagree with you here, just a bit. You have a point, but I think to be arguing it this long is evidence that you're exaggerating it. I think it's a well-known fact that players and the whole team gets intense scrutiny in Montreal, perhaps more than any other city in the League; so to compare with Anaheim isn't really an insult to Anaheim and its fans so much as it simply that comparison. Anyone in almost any city in the League will likely accept that fans in their city don't give the same degree of critical attention to their hockey team as is given in Montreal (or Toronto and a very few other cities).
Yeah, I think everyone gets that. You seem to be under the impression that people use African-American to describe black people worldwide, which is not the case except when people are flat-out not thinking as they speak. It's not at all clear why this issue causes you to be proud of your country.
Anyway, it's off topic.
Made me randomly remember British 400 metre runner Kriss Akabusi being interviewed by an American tv network after a race and being asked 'what does this mean to you as an African American?' Akabusi looked puzzled and pointed out that he was British, not American. The interviewer plunged on with 'but what does this mean to you as a British African American'....

Subban is great. The kid takes far too much scrutiny.
As for the Anaheim comment, it is being blown way out of proportion. Bruce Boudreau was on 'Off the Record' recently and was talking about living in a market like Washington vs Anaheim. He said that since he has moved to Anaheim he hasn't been recognized once on the street. Is this Boudreau being classless as well? How's it any different than what Subban said?

I wonder how many times this needs to be asked before people stop ranking his comments (5 Subbans!)

Don't worry, Southern/non-traditional (tarheelhockey) fans just get their panties in a bunch when they think one of their brethren has been insulted. Everyone should just be used to it by now. It's the same with fans of trap teams.
will HF is one of the most 40 most trafficated forums in the internetz http://rankings.big-boards.com/?p=2 ;just in case anyone didn't know
and it appears to be the most active sports forum, so I sort of understand why it's being used

Would it help if I said again that it doesn't matter which team was mentioned?

: jesus christ... It gets so confusing after awhile.. I've always heard willie o'ree was the first african-AMERICAN to play in the NHL and I always get angry since he's not an american.. call him african-canadian or black canadian.
ESPN using HFBoards quotes for a story is like a scientific researcher using Wikipedia. No offense to all parties involved.
A lot of the grief PK Subban gets is deserved, a lot of it isn't. It really isn't a racial thing either. Guys who taunt opponents, who are loud, and speak out are looked down upon in hockey, no matter their color. Look at Sean Avery. OV gets ripped apart sometimes and Roenick sometimes crossed the line. The reason this was even an article is because A) he's talented B) he's a black player in a majority white sport -- and to an American publication, that screams controversy (!), and the "r" word.

**** talking does not equal taunting. hockey is synonymous with **** talking.

No?
Ok, never mind.
If you didn't care, then why do you are you getting so worked up? You claim to like Subban, but clearly you misinterpret his comments even after they've been translated by several interpreters (can't even believe I had a chance on HF to say that)...and you still have beef. I can only assume you dislike the player, or the content of what is being stated because it offends the team you support.
He made an intelligent claim that is 100% correct. He didn't even present it in an offensive matter. As I said. Reaching like a hobo in a cash booth for reasons to be mad.

Who's getting worked up? I'm just here trying to get on ESPN.

I don't know why you'd make that assumption. I've told you several times that the team mentioned is irrelevant and I enjoy Subban as a player.
