Good stuff there...I am curious, though, who the NCAA team was that was supposed to come.

It is interesting to note that Canada/Russia will be playing on NYE at the World Juniors this year as well.

Well, looking at the livestats on the OUA site, I don't see Kidd dressed tonight against McGill. Swan has one assist so far, and is wearing #9. Colby Pridham is playing, wearing #19, and has a power play goal.

I wish the AUS used the live stats...would be so convenient.

UNB 7 McGill 2

I was at the game tonight. The score is indicative of how the game went.

Kidd dressed but did not play. Pridham wore #19. Swan #9.

MacDougall scored on a penalty shot. Fullerton in nets for UNB.

Short-Handed Penalty Shot at that (SH.PS) - that's adding insult to injury. I also have to add - I know we've been tough on MacD's skating style, but I have to say he must have taken some lessons or worked on his technique because he was a lot better (and faster) when I saw him in the Carleton game.

Have to say I wasn't sure what was going to happen in this game given McGill's success in the pre-season so far.

Tough to see Travis give up a goal on their first shot.

I hope you're having a good trip Rob. Dave and I are on the road next week.

As for live stats - yes, absolutely agree. The AUS is the only conference not using that solution.

I agree. I was actually surprised to see him take the penalty shot. Nice power move to score too.

I forgot to mention that Wright was hurt in the third last night. He wasn't taken to the dressing room which is a good sign.

Not sure if I will make the Maine game yet. Thanksgiving turkey might get in the way.

Yeah I notices that afterwards...I am sure when the game was originally announced it was a 7PM start though. The OUA site doesn't even list it so it doesn't look like we are getting any live stats for it.

Excellent...Kidd, presumably, didn't make it through a game before getting injured and it only took 4 games for Wright to go down. Shocking...

Is there any way to follow this afternoon's game? Nothing on the OUA site, SSN, or Twitter so far....

1-1 after the first. They don't have shot clock but UNB is dominating. PP was a terrible 0-3. Concordia doing the smart thing playing tight defence.

Kidd is playing. Wright is not.

Lacosta is in net. He hasn't seen much action but did. His rebound control is making me nervous though.

2-1 UNB after two. Carroll with a nice PP goal.

It is safe to say that they have lost a step since last night but Carleton is playing them hard. They have a bigger D and are doing a good job in front of their own net.

4-2 final for UNB....sounded like Salituro had a good game, I expect/hope to see him get more regular playing time this season.

UNB 4 Concordia 2

Shutron and Pridham with third period goals. Concordia got a PP goal late.

There was no shot clock and they didn't even announce them which was unusual. VReds definitely took the foot off the gas after they went up by three.

Not that great a game but they got the win.

I wish UNB the best of luck this week. I am just a little worried that the may overextend themselves with this aggressive exhibition schedule.

Just noticed today that Wiebe was invited to the Connecticut Whale's training camp...the article was from over a week ago...I wonder how he is making out? He played with the then Hartford Wolfpack for one game two seasons ago after his WHL season ended. Francis Verreault-Paul is also at camp.

I don't know if anyone seen this or not, but according to Geordie Wudrick's first blog post of the year on the UNB Athletics site Mike Thomas (the former Sea Dog) will be playing for UNB next season after sitting out this year to regain his eligibility after giving pro a shot.

UNB Lines

One of the interesting things about playing NCAA teams is that you are expected to give them your line combinations, on paper, ahead of time. Not that you have to stick to those lines of course ... You also have to send/exchange game videos.

Here's UNB's lines for Saturday against Boston College:

Carroll-Culligan-Braes
MacNeil-Pridham-Swan
Wudrick-MacDougall-Nesbitt
Fillier-Critchlow-Houde-Caron
Salituro

Desnoyers-Todd
Denny-Shutron
Robertson-Kidd
Wright

Fullerton-LaCosta

Bold Prediction regardless of what UNB does as a team this year if the top line stays healthy all year

Culligan scores 12 goals and 38 assists for 50 Pts
Carroll scores 20 goals and adds 20 assists for 40 Pts
Braes scores 23 goals and adds 25 assists for 48 Pts

Culligan will win both AUS and CIS Player of the Year while Braes wins both AUS and CIS Rookie of the Year honours

If healthy and a big if Daine Todd will lead the defence man in points scored with 28 Pts, While Chad Denny will lead the D in Goals scored with 11

I would take that...but if I had to guess I would lower Culligan and Carroll by about 10 points and Braes 15.
