Just gotta believe he's got something in mind that's going to turn him back into SFY with all these picks. Looking forward to the return of the Jedi Master.

Downie didn't get traded for a low first, the guy he was traded for was traded for a low first. Get your facts straight.

Yzerman is too smart to make a stupid trade without a continuation plan to go with it.

I'd wait and see what you do with these 132493984732 picks you have amassed before pushing the panic button.

I guess we'll have to wait until the offseason.

I hope he will be smart, and not let our Lightning be a "Smart" for upcoming years.

By then we will have EVERY pick in the draft. This is Yzerman's master plan.

But seriously, I hate this.

As if we had to give up on Fornataro to get Segal!

After this trade I wouldn't be surprised to see another move

Am I one of the few who likes this? 2 1sts and 4 2nd rounders gives you a lot of flexibility to make a big move. Downie played a nice role here but he's replaceable and he's borderline top 6 IMO. We can and will get somebody who is a top 6 guy. SFY is getting this team ready for the long run. This is simply not our year.

Everyone needs to calm the **** down here. It will end up making sense.

Also, funny that Varlamov gets to play with the guy that he hates and ran his mouth about in the offseason.

Little gem here: It was Yzerman who made this happen. COL didn't want what Det offered directly, so Yzerman (TB) got Quincey (con't)

having pre-arranged what DET would give TB. Bear in mind, Wings 1st-round pick will be mid-20-to-30

I understand that it will work itself out. But we are only 6 points out of the playoffs, and it seems as if Yzerman counts us as done for the season now.

First trade was ok, but flipping Quincey for a low-first looks BAD

Canucks fan here. Kind of curious, most Canuck fans feel Schneider will be traded at the draft for picks/prospects. Since TBL now has a pile of picks, what do you think the best offer could be for a player like Schneider? This is assuming TBL isn't in re-build mode, I personally have no idea why they would be.

Would you guys trade DET 1st, TBL 2nd, another late 2nd? Would it cap out at DET 1st and TBL 2nd? Or would you go as high as Connolly and DET 1st? Just trying to gauge value with you guys, as it SEEMS to be Tampa has interest in Schneider (correct me if I'm mistaken).

With the inconsistent play of Florida, Washington, Toronto, Ottawa, Carolina, Montreal, Buffalo, etc... we have chances of playoffs even blowing the team up

Detroit 1st + Florida's 2nd rounder

With Downie being traded I don't want Connolly to be moved

I think it's best to hold off on such speculation until after the deadline. The secret playbook Yzerman showed us has been turned into an impressive coaster right about now.

We will have to wait and see how this pans out, need to see the whole picture.

I like Downie, he is a great player and I would rather have kept him but at the same time something must be done about goaltending and defense and that will cost.

GBL, I know its very early but do you know if Tampa scouting staff like any prospects from the draft?

You honestly think this team would have done anything special had it made the playoffs? This team needs some things before we make noise in the playoffs and with all the draft choices and some cap space this summer we have a shot to. Also you gotta think of the future as well. Stamkos is the future and after Marty and Vinny are gone they need players to play next to stamkos. The draft is an excellent source to get that for now. SFY is not only building this team for next year but way down the line too. Let's be honest about where we are in building a consistent contender now.
