I never said Phaneuf didn't get an instigator on the play. And Foligno did get a penalty which was a pretty brutal call.

How does it not add to the discussion? Your whole fanbase is criticizing someone for doing something your captain did a few weeks prior.

What do you want Devils fans to say? Boulton received a penalty and he deserved it

Apparently Boulton + Boyce = Parise, Clarkson + Phaneuf?

No we're not. We're only defending Phaneuf here.

This thread has nothing to do with the Sens.

I don't think anyone here is really criticizing Clarkson here, more like sticking up for Phaneuf because people are on him for not taking off his helmet.

90% of the discussion has been about visors, people are just are arguing Phaneuf didn't have to take his off because Clarkson instigated... maybe you should actually read the thread next time.

lool a scrub thats going to score 30 goals and would be your second leading goal scorer. I appluad Phaneuf for keeping his visor on, don't want to look any uglier then he already is.

Good hockey play.

OMG! Why does Phaneuf have to fight after that?! Waan! Waan! So tired of fights after clean hits! Waan Waan! I've never played hockey in my life and have no clue what I'm talking about, but players should review the play from at least 3 different replay angles and then if it's deemed dirty, start a fight. Otherwise it's just garbage! Waan! Waan! I don't get why players stick up for each other!!

Yeah I don't care what the players look like. I don't think I'm supposed to. Then again, I'm a man.

Come on dude, you can't really say that Phaneuf had any chance to take his visor off at all. Clarkson clearly instigated. Clarkson did the right thing by sticking up for Parise though. Both fan bases are crying way too much in this thread

The hit didn't look too bad. Definitely not suspension worthy, but IMO that's one of the few times where a fight after a non-penalized hit is justifiable. (Star player slow to get up). But really? Why should Phaneuf be forced to take off his helmet, he didn't try in any way to start the fight.

Parise is such a pansy

Stays on the ice like if he got shot then laughs it off at the bench

He's a solid 3rd line player many teams would love to have. That's not a scrub.

Clarkson is really getting overrated here

Its his first really good season lets not talk about him being any more then a 3rd line until he shows his consistent enough

Wait, people are saying Phaneuf should take his visor or helmet off when he's jumped?

Come on, man. Phaneuf's free to wear a visor, free to hit a guy like that while wearing a visor and Clarkson's free to jump the visor-wearing guy who crushed his captain. Nobody did anything wrong here. Everything went down exactly how it's supposed to.

That visor-fighting extra penalty is archaic anyway; a relic from an era when most guys didn't wear them. These days it's usually a guy wearing a visor instigating a fight with another guy wearing a visor. Very little advantage in situations like that.

Clean hit, decent tilt...

Not a fan of Dion fighting with visor... he is often guilty of doing this.

However, give Dion credit for answering the bell.

There's been a few posts that have been criticizing Clarkson for "fighting after a clean hit".

Except Phaneuf fought after a clean hit against Ottawa and some people here are getting mad at Clarkson for doing the same thing.
