Is Nash the most overrated player in the NHL or is Pavs the most underrated? Columbus better make it Nash + Brassard if they want Pavelski. Joe is a far superior two-way player and puts up as many points as Nash. The promise that if Nash was playing with Thornton he'd be a top 20 player doesn't mean jack without proof.

Nash + Columbus 2012 1st (Yakupov) for Pavelski, Demers, 1st 2012, 2nd 2013 and Sexsmith/Sateri/Stalock

I would consider that.

I seriously doubt Columbus would ...

That is very ambitious, to say the least.

Pavelski is a non-starter especially for Nash because just straight up it makes the team worse. If a deal for Nash can't be made by moving players other than Couture, Pavelski, and the players with clauses, it's not worth making. If Columbus doesn't want d-men so they have trade pieces in that regard, you'd have to look at something like Clowe, Galiardi, Nieto, Sateri, and a 1st.

If the Blue Jackets want Pavelski I think they should have to pay through the nose. Howson and Doug Wilson should just duel and whoever wins gets whatever the hell they want.

Rick Nash? still? just trade him to the Rangers or Leafs in the offseason and get it over with.

Just give the coaching staff for Rick Nash. Blue Jackets could probably use a coaching change anyways.

Nash to MTL for their #1 pick (a top 5 pick), one of their good young defensemen and a top prospect.

No, it doesn't. And no, it's a stupid idea.

Trade the most consistent player on the team... good idea...

As much as I like those guys, they don't hold a candle to Marleau's consistency, they simply have not been around long enough.

You can rely on Marleau to put up 30 goals and 70-80 points every year. He's been doing it for a decade (aside from one season of being pissed off at his coach). Frankly I'd trade Thornton before I traded Marleau simply because if you are trying to change the core strategy Marleau is the guy that is going to adapt better to any system you throw at him.

People love to rail on the guy, but he's worth every penny he's paid and he always shows up when we need him most.

Seriously. Over the last 10 seasons Marleau has averaged over 70 points a season. I mean, come on.

I wouldn't trade Marleau but no can deny that he is declining and when his speed is gone, I think his points will drastically diminish. I'm not sure what you could really get for him tho at that price tag and age anyway.

He is pretty consistent these days. Emphasis on these days because he was such a flop defensively in the past as a center in big games. I.e. the red wings series years ago.

More importantly, the ONLY reason I'd say keep him is because we can't afford to lose his speed. We cannot get any slower at this point.

Glad someone said this. If this ship's going down, we're going down with our captain.

This. I don't know why anyone would want to trade him.
