I hope he asks the 2nd question for everyone, including Thornton, Marleau, Couture and Pavelski.

No but they got to spend 4.5million over the cap to stacktherest of the team.

As it stands. Nemo isn't playing good enough, Greiss deserves a few starts in a row.

I'd put the chance of this happening at about 5%, if that.

They would have to include Couture or Pavelski, neither of which they will.

Clowe and Havlat are not centerpieces in a deal for a franchise type player like Nash.

Too many teams interested in him out there for CBJ to settle on a package like that.

I like Pavelski, I really do, but he isn't going to be the star that Couture is. If we had to choose between them, I'd take Couture.

Just passed #sjsharks Doug Wilson in press box. Understandably purposeful lack of eye contact. Wouldn't expect otherwise under circumstances
Sounds like Mitchell, White, 2nd didn't go over to well with Howson.

Come on guys, imagine the hilarity among the NHL for Howson to trade for a goalie that was pulled in a garbage effort against his own club. You couldn't script it any better...

Niemi has been on a 3-game slump, but it isn't like Greiss has been any better. Seriously, we're going into Philly territory with all this Niemi hate.
Nemo's slump is a little longer than three games. He's been slumping since he sat out against Dallas for that injury. The only game he didn't give up three or more goals since then was against St. Louis. Nemo just needs some time off and I think sitting him for the rest of the road trip might be a good way to get him refreshed.

As for Greiss, he has been better. Just look at their February stats. Nemo's got an .872 save percentage in the seven games this month. Greiss is at .909 in his four games. Now in the context of the save percentage, neither have been good enough but both goalies have suffered from the team defense failing more often than normal in front of them.

I don't want to trade Nemo and I don't want to go with Greiss as the starter in the playoffs this year. I will definitely say that Greiss has starter potential and might even be ready next season to be the guy but he's not prepared to take the job now and Nemo, on the whole of it, is better and more prepared for what the team needs from their starter than Greiss. However, right now, both Greiss and Nemo benefit from Greiss taking a week or two's worth of starts.

Nash isn't happening folks...so let's please stop this discussion.

I would only trade Pavs or Couture for Nash if Johannssen (sp?) is also coming back or something along those lines

"If the Sharks were to land Nash, there's a strong possibility the deal would have to include forward Joe Pavelski and a combination of prospects and draft picks."

Very doubtful but I would cry.

I would rather not make the playoffs this year than give up Pavs to get Nash here. I dont even know if that will help us at all in any other area other than getting some media attention and maybe extra jersey sales.

I guess now that I think about it...Nash is only 27, so he's not quite the same as Heatley. Plus, I think his skill-set is better than Heater who was a pure sniper. Regardless, this is the max offer I would do for Nash:

Clowe+Murray+Mitchell+Demers+Goalie Prospect+other decent prospects/picks

if they take Havlat off our hands instead of Clowe, great, but otherwise, this is max. offer...no Pavs/Couture/Marleau/Vlasic/etc.

If that's not enough, screw Nash and go grab Jones + Winnik or something from Colorado for Mitchell + 2nd + Irwin or something...

Go Sharks.

I'd rather keep Havlat in a trade for Nash than Clowe. It would help the team speed and defensive play in that aspect. Moving Havlat reduces team speed and defensive play.

So agree.
As well, don't know when Nitty fell totally out of favour but, he could be a little refreshing in goal for us right now.

I gotta agree with Pinkfloyd about keeping havlat over clowe. he increases team speed and creativity something we clearly lack.

As for the deal above. Switch Sateri with Griess and this maybe gets it done.
If not then +Demers
If still not then walk

If this happens at all I think Wilson may be counting on the off season. Howson made his bed with the whole Nash debacle and Nash is completely in the drivers seat now with his NMC. If anything Wilson would be looking to get another steal when a desperate Howsen is out of options... The problem is Howsen does have to sell it to the fans and his bosses. At least Ottawa could try and hype Cheechoo all those years ago

Just FYI. If the Jackets deal both Nash and Carter, they need to be aware of contract slots. They have 47 active contracts, allowing them to only add 3. That likely means that their best move is 3 returning contracts for Nash allowing a possible 2 for Carter. The rest needs to be in picks.
