PG didn't ruin the team, he inherited a broken squad from Gainey. I agree that Gainey is a very smart man with good hockey sense, but I think he built the problem we have. PG has not done that. Yes, he should probably go at the right time (soon), but he did not make the moves that created the team we see.

With that being said, the entire front brass needs to be cleaned out.

I think that Randy wants the team to play like a bunch of grinders. It's how he played, perhaps it's what he understands.

Problem is, you get the results of grinders when you do that.

Your kiddin yourself....This SQUARELY lands on the feet of Gainey!

- Gainey went SMALLER after the Koivu era.
- He got NOTHING for tradeable assets like Koivu, Komi, etc....
- He traded Ribero for Nimminnnaa
- He traded for Gomez and that salary and gave away a top 2 dman in the process.
- He HIRED Gauthier " the man I trust the most"

Great Hockey players do NOT make great front office people..... Bob Gainey is now living proof of that.

If he has ANY sense of pride, he will resign quietly in the off-season.

Gainey left before the team got bad enough for him to take much flak for it.

Ribeiro, Latendresse, Grabovski, McDonagh with pretty much nothing to show for it. Not many teams can overcome such losses, our scouting staff has been nothing short of amazing.

Really? Gainey may have had tactical hockey smartsin his playing days but his management skills are from hunger. What can he show for the 7.5 years since his return to the organization in the summer of 2003? Rien.

McDonagh + Higgins: Traded for Gomez
Latendresse: Traded for Pouliot. Pouliot left for nothing.
Kostitsyn: Traded for Boyd, Ellis. Boyd left for nothing. Ellis never signed.
Ribeiro: Traded for Niinimaa and a 5th (Conboy). Niinimaa left for nothing. Conboy still in system.
D'Agostini: Traded for Aaron Palushaj (Sucks anus)
Ryan O'Byrne: Traded for Bournival (might be a player).

.

A bunch of guys who won the Stanley Cup and were key cogs in winning that trophy. I think their teams are all in the play-off picture as well.

Ribeiro's a classless *********. And the clowns on L'Antichambre ate it up...the same guys who cried bloody murder when Subban made sure Larson was alright after a hit. SMGDH!

Yet people will always find the excuse of the dark years of the habs...

Gainey's free agent bonanza was absolutely horrendous. All of it to "win now".

On another note, some fans in here are still down with that mentality.

Detroit can win now, the rangers can win now, the canucks can win now, The hawks can win now ect.

Why would any fan of a team that always finishes between 7-10 have to win now. It's unhealthy for you in the long run. The management feeds the fans bullcrap, they eat it, but when reality strikes, it's the coaches fault or it's time to win pointless games that will not benefit the chances of drafting a marquee player, because winning a game makes you feel good for 2 days.

The team will not lose games on purpose, but any fan who wants this team to finish 9th and win most games at this point is absolutely retarded and should go on a cup contenders bandwagon for the rest of the year.

Yes, that's exactly it... but he was definitely making fun of how crazy things are in MTL right now in the process. Saying that was him being "respectful and thankful" of the fans is ridiculous. This is Ribeiro, not Koivu.
