This team was the most skilled team

This team was the most skilled team in NHL for several seasons but lack of strong minds made you weak in the playoff.
You guys got 4 superstars, most teams only got 1 or 2.
Ovechkin, Backstrom, Green, Semin.
Such a waste of skilled players.

I'm disappointed but this shows what bad coaching and what weak minds can do to a team.

I will say that I don't believe it was due to bad coaching or weak minds really.

I believe the problem stemmed from not having the right complimentary players and lack of veteran experience ESPECIALLY on the blue line. Too many "skilled" and soft players and not enough grit. Mix that in with poor center depth and questionable/inexperienced goaltending and the results are predictable.

If we had signed Chara or traded for Pronger when we had the chance we wouldn't be having these kinds of discussions right now.

As it stands we were perfectly content with having extremely young and inexperienced players up and down the lineup in key positions and roles. He assumed Ovechkin would be a 50 goal scorer forever and we'd be healthy every year going into the playoffs.

I think McPhee figured this out too late and tried to totally revamp the team this summer. Even then he failed when it came to getting the right vets (Hamrlik) and no 2nd line center.

I guess the mods are all still asleep. No need for a post like this unless you're just looking to do a little trolling in the morning.
