Nope. you can root for Leonsis to have the nerve to clean out the front office and bring in someone who will hire a proven NHL coach. 4 straight coaches with no NHL coaching experience is squarely on the shoulders of the GM. Boudreau had a great regular season run and failed in the playoffs. The other 3 coaches he hired didn't do any better.
Time for a new GM with a different idea of how to build the team. If this team fails to make the playoffs, the day they are eliminated is the day you can GMGM and start the search for a new GM.
No use rooting for something like that. If Ernie Grunfeld can't get fired by Uncle Teddy with all the crap he has pulled over the last 3-4 years then GMGM is safe.
Wow, I really like the idea of Ladd as posted by the previous guy. Give them
colorados first rounder and a prospect like Eakin to get it done. That guys a proven winner and that attitude
would be contagious to a team as skilled as us.
Lol at people thinking this is the coaches fault. The coach who was blamed for all our losses a few months ago is now leading his team on a huge tear.
This is absolutely a personnel issue that needs to be corrected. Lucky for us it's heart and not skill that needs to be acquired which will cost us less.
It was both...and still is.
Hunter did not bring in the right style for this team while Bruce failed more often than not when it mattered with his.
What we need is an aggressive north-south system with a coach who can adapt it from a game to game basis. AFTER that you need to bring in some center depth and get a talented player with miles and miles of heart to bleed out to the rest of the team.
Though, I'll admit, I did get a good laugh out of Joe B's exasperated "Look...at...this. Condra, with a breakaway waltz" when Condra stole the puck for a breakaway. I mean, you could hear the complete disbelief in his voice at how awful the Caps are playing.
His comment came not too long after he went off on how the Caps were pulling their second clunker in a row, and only a second after he said "I shake my head when I think the Caps have lost 20 of 30 on the road this year."
Basically. Maybe the 'peg will step up? I like Andrew Ladd.
They are my guess to step up, but they have played a lot of games this year. The home stretch is going to help them. It would be a nice story for the NHL and the city of Winnipeg. As a Caps/Jets fan growing up, it sure is strange watching the two teams in same division and fighting for a playoff spot. Then again, this time last year, this was Atlanta. Sad the player's association vetoed the realignment. Another year of the SE division I guess.
