Yeah but this is the flipside on that horrendous goal he let in...
Last year we had a Jekyll and Hyde team...now we have Bryzll and Hyde...
Like I said in the other Bryz thread....if you are consistently making stupid mistakes wouldn't it follow that you ARE playing bad??
Anway, at this stage in the season he needs to start being way more consistent...again he let up four goals. Not sure how many that's been for him this season. 3 of them weren't all on him but he can at least come up with more than a few Pavelec type saves considering he's paid to do so....
Last night he was avg again....
Quote:
“Just a stupid mistake,” Bryzgalov said. “I started catching the puck and I miscalculated the distance between the puck and my glove, and it hit me on the edge of the glove and went in.
“I’m kind of sick and tired of these mistakes. It’s not like playing bad, it’s just consistently stupid mistakes. I want to help the team.”
Subtitle should be "No, unless..." because at this point it doesn't look good unless we trade him, buy him out, or he somehow excels in this system/the team plays better/everything else. Feel free to have your own "No, unless."
You gotta think he has at least 1 good year in him.....now will the team be on the same page in that one single year....ugh. I just hope it's this one transition year for him. I pray he can turn it on by the playoffs and it's not impossible but he needs to find this inner "peace" quickly.
I feel like Bryz makes himself small in the net, guy isn't a small guy and needs to make himself bigger, the guy shrinks and compresses when ever someone shoots on him

Plenty of hockey to be played. All he has to do is not suck in the playoffs and they will be fine. He has been pretty bad all year and they are still in a good playoff postition. He doesn't have to be great (though it would be helpful), he just has to not suck.

He was working on it. I saw him hanging around Geno's.
I posted this in the other thread but it got closed when i was finished
Tracking the puck seems to be the biggest problem with Bryz this year. He can not follow it at all times and scared the balls off me when he is completely looking the other way when the puck is lying right next to him
One positive thing I saw last night was when we were celebrating the win. Bryz went right over to Jagr and talked to him for almost 30 seconds it seemed, he must have been thanking him for pulling through and winning the game. After he was done with Jagr he also talked to Simmonds for about 15-20 seconds if my memory serves me right. Although not that big of a deal, it showed me finally he cared about the team in front him and winning the game. He was creating excuses earlier about all different kinds of ****, but this time he knew the team battled and came through for him and was gracious. I like that he showed some emotion there, and went right to the players that helped him dig out of the hole he created. I know he is here for a long time, but if he can somehow turn it around, and take us to a cup the city will forever remember him. He won't be a legend like Bernie, but damn close. I also think by him showing some emotion after the game shows he genuinely cares about this team and wants it. That made me satisfied after last nights performance.

I am translating this as he needs to be avg or mediocre like he has been? That is not going to get us far in the playoffs. Pavelec type goaltending or Halak that year he was on fire is what makes you go far.

Yeah the puck tracking concerns the hell out of me too. I believe I posted this in the PGT, but there was a PP in the second period where he completely lost the puck for close to two seconds. He was looking to the left while the puck was to the right. It's a good thing they didn't get a shot off. The extra weight he's supposedly carrying accounts for some things, but it doesn't account for this. Unless his eyelids are so muscly they block his vision.
