While we arenít ready to go into too many details just yet, as you saw in the trailer and can tell by the name, this game is very much a new adventure, taking place far away from and long after the events of the original trilogy. You will play a human, male or female, though thatís actually not the character you saw in the trailer (more on that later). Youíll be exploring an all-new galaxy, Andromeda, and piloting the new and improved Mako you saw. And through it all, you will have a new team of adventurers to work with, learn from, fight alongside of, and fall in love with.
I like that they're going for a very "space western" theme.

Mass Effect is a narrative driven RPG, it's hard to make the game multiple-species when that's the setup. They could have changed format of this new game, but that's going against what they've been doing for the series. It's a little disappointing but it doesn't mean we can't enjoy the game.
If Andromeda is about exploring, it's hard to make a game where you can be any race unless all the races are united. And if all the races are united then you lose a lot of story possibilities.
I am hoping there is at least some references to the earlier games. There probably won't be though being that there multiple endings in mass effect 3. I doubt the Reapers will even be brought up in Mass Effect 4.
