NHL Roster Freeze: Feb 3, 2012 at 11:59 PM MST, and real life trade or injury after this point is to be ignored.
Trade Deadline Period: Feb 4, 2012 at 12:00 PM MST to Feb 12, 2012 at 12:00 PM MST.
Once you have negotiated a trade with another GM(s), one member will PM the commissioner (The Head Crusher) or Co-Commissioner ThePerfectStorm for approval. Once one of us has approved the trade you may announce it in this thread. The reason why I ask that you wait for approval is that I want to make sure that the trade is correct in that you actually have the assets being traded (mostly draft picks) and also so I can evaluate it just to make sure the trades are “fair” and that there is no collusion going on (ie Stamkos for a 7th round pick).
Draft pick and prospects are available to be traded so please make sure you actually possess your assets before you trade them and please indicate which teams picks that are( ex. Boston trades Toronto’s 2011 1st and Boston’s 2012 5th for...). If you are unsure what draft pick your team currently possesses please use this site as you can see who owns what picks by team and year http://www.prosportstransactions.com...ears/index.htm . We are also playing with the Salary Cap so make sure that any trade you make does not make your team exceed. http://www.capgeek.com/ is an excellent site for this.
Waivers: If you wish to place a player on waivers or re-entry waivers in order to send them down to the farm you must PM your intent to do so and then make an official announce to the other GM (through this thread) that the player is now on waivers. When you make the announcement the other GMs, a 24 hour waiver period will begin. During this time every team now has an opportunity to place a claim on that player. If you wish to place a claim on the player PM me with your intent to do so and I will announce the result when the players waiver period is over, DO NOT ANNOUNCE YOUR CLAIM OVER THIS THREAD. Priority is based on the team’s standings when the waiver period begins.
Wade Redden Rule: If your team possess a player that they are hiding in the AHL (Redden, Finger, ect) and they have to clear re-entry waiver in order to get called up before they can be traded. If you wish to do this you must follow the procedure that has been stated above in the Waiver section.
Injury Rule: If you have a player that is currently on the LTIR list (ex. Crosby), then they cannot be traded under the terms of the CBA. However if they only have a minor injury and will only be out for a few day or are listed as day to day they are fair game.
UFA/RFA Free Agents: There are a few UFAs still out there that could possibly be signed. If you wish to attempt to sign a player you must contact their agents Soli if you are in the Eastern Conference and OilBleeder if you are in the Western Conference. Be prepared to justify your offer to these agents and have comparables. Once an agreement is reached it will be forwarded to the Commissioner for approval. Once it receives approval the GM is free to announce the signing.
NMC/NTC: If you have a player who has a NMC or NTC you must get the player to waiver this specific clause. Similar to the Free Agent rule you must contact their agents being represented by Soli if you are in the Eastern Conference and The Head Crusher if you are in the Western Conference. If the player agrees to waive their NTC you will be free to trade them.
KHL Player Rights: There are a few players currently in the KHL whose rights are owned by NHL teams. You are free to trade these player’s rights at your own discretion. If you wish to try and bring them over from the KHL while they are still under contract with their KHL team you must expose said player to waivers, just as Nabokov was last year.
League/Playoff Simulation and Lottery: After the trade Deadline has passed I will be conducting a simulation of the remainder of the season and playoffs starting at the point of the Roster freeze. It may take a day or two to complete, but once it is finished we will have our draft order. In the interest of keeping this game as authentic as possible I will also be conducting a lottery pick for the bottom teams to see who gets the first overall pick. Once those have been finalized we will move quickly into the draft.
DRAFT RULES
The start of the Entry Draft will be ~24 hours following the release of the draft order. Trading will once again be allowed as soon as the draft order is released till the end of the Draft.
The 30 GMs will each manage their own franchise through 5 rounds. Additional round will be added based on interest at the end of the 5th round.
Signing of free agents will be the same as during the draft, but during the draft we will see a 10% increase in the salary cap, from 64,300,000 to 70,730,000.
Each GM is on the clock and will have 6 hours to make their draft selection. A grace period will occur from 1am to 6am. Thus is someone was on the board as of 11pm, they would have until 10am to make their selection. After time has elapsed, your pick will be made by your fellow GMs. Please PM the next GM in the draft order after you make your selection.
Any GM that misses two selections without just causes will be removed from their franchise. A new GM shall be assigned to the franchise.

Quote:
The 6-foot-3, 180-pound forward has some mad skills that could make even the non-hockey fan marvel in amazement. He has tremendous wheels, can blow by the opposition in a flash, and also boasts great hands and puckhandling ability that enables him to score highlight reel goals almost at will.

CAP PAYROLL: Was originally $49,848,991 before the new additions to our team. The Predators at the start of the season had $14,451,009 in cap space but with that pro-rated it means that the Nashville Predators can add up to $66,835,917M at the trade deadline.

- Nashville has signed Travis Moen to a 3 year contract at 1.7m per year with a NTC
- Nashville has signed Dominic Moore to a 3 year contract at 1.3m per year with a NTC
- Nasvhille is in the works of signing Colin Wilson for what is believed to be 2.9m per year
- Nashville is in the works of signing Jonas Gustavsson for what is believed to be 1.1m per year
- Nashville has qualifed Shea Weber
Everyone at the right price. Look for top end talent, picks and prospects.
Carl Gunnarsson:
Not only was Gunnarsson second on his entire team on TOI per game, but he lead the Toronto defence in takeaways and blocked shots. He also lead his team the most SH TOI/G and was the top defenceman in terms of +/- while playing on home ice. We feel that he is still young, very cheap and a top four defenceman . We also felt that if we were to win that Rinne is the goaltender that would take us to the stanley cup. We wish Lindback the best and felt that we made a trade that will benefit both him as well as the Predators. We were able to add Carl without giving up any of our starters. He is one of the most underrated defencemen in the entire league and we are extremely pleased to add another young top 4 defenceman.
Travis Moen:
Travis is an incredible leader. Not only is he still young enough to potentially sign for next year (only 29) he adds some toughness with his 681 PIM in 570 games played. He fills a need on the penalty kill. Only Tomas Plekanec averaged more PK time amongst Canadien forwards this year. This is a PK that remains to be the best in the league and Moen was one of the reason it was so good. Moen also lead all Canadien forwards in blocked shots and was second amongst forwards in hits. We feel that he can add some crash and bang to our third/fourth line while playing as a PK specialist.
Mark Streit:
Not that anyone can replace Ryan Suter, but Mark Streit will surely help Nashvilles powerplay remain top 3 in the league. Even though Suter had 18 powerplay points, Streit has actually surpassed Suter with 19 powerplay points despite being on a team with a worse powerplay. This is evident as he lead the Islanders in powerplay time per game. Streit was New Yorks only defenceman to have more takeaways than giveaways while logging the most icetime on the team. Streit was the former captain of the Islanders and usually wears the "C" for any Swiss national teams. He was also the first Swiss player in NHL history to wear the "C". In the past three seasons he has averaged 56 points a season. We also feel like Roman Josi will benefit immensily from his leadership and help him develop into a top pairing defenceman in the future. His leadership will develop our three young defencemen in Gunnarsson, Ellis and Josi. At the same time he would be a top pairing defenceman on any other team and still has a few good years left in him. We expect him to rejuvinate his career playing on a stanley cup team and not a bottom feeder like the New York Islanders.
Ray Whitney:
Obviously, Whitney was Phoenix's leading point producer this year and lead everyone on the team with a +18. His 19 powerplay points should help a stuggling Nashville powerplay and provide some secondary scoring for the Predators. He has 975 points in 1201 games and doesn't show any sign of letting up. Whitney or "Wizard" is a clutch players who can produce in the playoffs. He brings a huge boost to Nashvilles offence without adding a long term cap hit. Whitney would add some much needed skill to any second line and can breakout to dominate games single handedly. With the size we already possess up front we have a PP specialist and a skilled playmaking winger that will be given all the open ice he wants.
Michal Rozsival:
We really feel like we hit a homerun with Michal. Not only does he have his Czech connection with Martin Erat, he is coming off the books at the end of the year. Roszival is a very steady defenceman that has a very hefty contract. Given that his contract is up, we feel that he can focus on playing his game and possibly proving that he should warrant a new one. As a number 7/8/9 defenceman he brings some playoff experience and has 254 points in 728 NHL games. Michal has only been a "negative" +/- player once since the lockout and is a very effective "plug" that can play in all situations.
Vincent Lecavalier:
On a team that is dead last in goals against per game, its hard to blame the offence for the teams struggles. Despite the team having a terrible year defensively, most people don't realize that Tampa is still 9th in the leauge in terms of goals per game. Offensive superstar Vincent Lecavalier does it all. Not only was he the captain of the Tampa Bay Lightning he is still in his prime at the age of 31. The 6'4" center brings size down the middle and has scored 837 points in 986 so far in his career. He is a proven playoff performed with 52 points in 63 games played. Despite playing on the second line this year, he is on pace for 70 points. This is shy of his 108 point performance in 2006-2007 but we feel that with both David Legwand and Mike Fisher eating up alot of minutes against other teams top lines, that Vinny will be able to produce offensively. Lecavalier has scored 50 goals once in his career despite being both a goal scorer and playmaker. He is the new face of the franchise up front.
Dustin Byfuglien:
Knowing that Suter was likely going to fetch 10M on the open market (as reported by many media sources leading up to the trade deadline, we felt that a player like Byfuglien could eat all the minutes that Suter could at almost half the price. "Buff" is one of the most unique players in the game today and definitely adds some much needed size on the backend. A defence pairing of Weber and Byfuglien is better than any other pairing in the league today.
On draft picks and prospects:
A few critical fans have made the claim that Nashville has "mortgaged" the future. Sure, Nashville moved a few players to help us win now. Still, none of the players we moved were currently on the team and we have enough younger players (Wilson, Spaling, Smith, Josi, Ellis) currently in the NHL and this gives us more flexibility long term. Jonathan Blum was a healthy scratch most nights, Blake Geoffrion couldn't prove that he was an NHL player, Gabriel Borque is just simply too small to be put in a bottom 6 role and Anders Lindback was never really challenging for a starter positon. At the end of the day we moved 5 of our top 20 prospects but none of which had realistic shots of stay with the Predators long term.
As far as draft picks go, we feel that we actually improved our picks. Vancouvers 2013 1st round pick is in a much deeper draft and a better pick than our 2012 first round pick. The 2nd round pick that Tampa Bay sent in the Suter deal is much better than the 2013 2nd round pick we gave up in the Byfuglien deal.

...the Carolina Hurricanes select, from the Kitchener Rangers, Matia Marcantuoni.
The 6'0'' 180lbs center is arguably the best skater in the draft. Boasting explosive accelaration and an incredible extra gear. Marcantuoni has been hindered by multiple injuries this year, but he has talent, drive and potential in spades.

Toronto is happy to select from Edmonton of the WHL Cody Corbett
Corbett has been a big-time addition for the Oil Kings this season and has improved considerably already throughout the first half of the season. He has a tremendous shot and does a great job quarterbacking the power play. Corbett is strong positionally and for a two-way player, does a good job of battling in the corners and handling physical forwards. Corbett continues to be a player who has flown under the radar a bit in the shadows of his teammates Griffin Reinhart and Mark Pysyk, but his blend of intelligence and physicality makes for an enticing package moving forward.

Trevor Carrick from the St. Michael's Majors of the OHL
Quote:
Carrick has good size and plays a very safe defensive game with very few holes in it. He has a long reach and does a great job of maintaining gap control and anticipating the play. There’s a lot of potential with Carrick and the team that drafts him will be taking him based on what he can become as he continues to develop.
