Simply, yes. But there's also a good reason to say no.
If he weren't asking to play these games, there's almost no way you could say no. But he obviously thinks he can handle it, and he's clearly the better goalie.
I also think that as long as he continues to start this much, we're not sellers just yet. He gives us a great chance to win every game he starts, and while Bachman isn't bad, he just isn't that same kind of lights-outs goaltender.
I said no only because he missed 5 weeks so he probably has enough in the tank to get through a busy february (plus had a week off for the ASB).
Although March is even busier so hopefully bachman can get more starts in March. If he continues this for another month into late March then i think he would be over worked.
He just got a shutout. Clearly he's not being overworked.
This reads like it ought to be sarcasm, yet you voted "no", so...
The symptoms of overwork don't show up immediately. There's a delay. If Kari maintains his current level of play the rest of the season while maintaining his current workload I will be very surprised.

It's not like he had jury duty. He hurt his groin. Something that ought to be a concern, but has apparently been pushed to the side in the desperate scramble to win now.
Not right now he isn't but if Bachman doesn't get a few more starts down the line (starts i feel he has earned) then it will probably start to take it's toll on Kari. I think him saying he feels fine is a bit redundant, it's up to Gully to ***** where he is at and make the decision

hmm is grape filtered too ive seen grape censored because it includes ****
Kari is going to have a five month break starting the 2nd week in April. May as well get your money's worth by playing him as much as possible until then.

But of course that's not what they're thinking or why he's playing this much. They're doing this to try to make the playoffs, in which case you'd absolutely need a rested and ready Lehtonen to have any chance at all of advancement ...and there's the catch-22 and why it doesn't make sense to begin with.
Surely I can't be the only one who remembers the 3 game win streak we went on with Bachman?
Bachs has seen one game in over a month. That's the primary issue with playing Kari this much. When every game is this important, you can't be throwing one away every 9 or 10 because you don't keep your backup sharp. And then if you have that strategy you're screwed for the playoffs anyway because your starter is tired.
Kari is fine. He could start 20 more games this season and probably wouldn't die.
Thought this was an interesting quote from Kari after last night's game:
It was a perfect game to get a lot of shots after getting three-four days rest. It seemed to be a perfect fit that Bachs played the Vancouver game. I was really fresh. I think that helped.
The moral of the story may just be that goalies are going to say whatever that's currently happening is the best for them. If they're not getting rest they'll say they'd rather be in rhythm and that they're feeling fine. If they are getting rest they'll say it helps and makes them sharper. The only proof is in the results. Thankfully we seem to have the rotation back in working order.
