He's an awesome, awesome PKer. Big, fast, though not very physical. Good puck protection but poor hands/creativity.

Winnik was my favorite player when he played here. Gave 150% every shift.

I hated when the Yotes traded Winnik. He has a Dustin Brown kind of work ethic, skate as hard as you can, hit as hard as you can, and drive to the front if the net on every shift. He's not dirty, but he'll scrap when necessary.

I'm sure the guy with 7 playoff games in his career is more sought after than former Stanley cup champion and playoff beast Travis Moen.

It's not painfully obvious that you have never seen Winnik play. No seriously, it's not.

He isn't even available. So why bring him up?

I didn't think this trade deadline could possibly get any more boring, but now that Winnik could potentially move/not move... it looks like I was wrong.

I will be pissed if Winnik gets traded... There is no realistic return for him that could justify it.

I dont think they have moen in the category as a role player but i def agree he would prob be a better pickup no matter how much i love winnik thats what he is a big bodied pk specialist....

Edit im an idiot was thinking someone else on the habs

Winnik is what's been missing from the Avs for a while now. If Sherman doesn't keep him, he's an idiot.

Guys like Winnik get moved but I'd have a problem if he moves Winnik and it's this. He's not gonna get more than a 2nd rounder for Winnik. Winnik is a 3rd line NHL regular and not old so why would you move him for a 2nd?

By trading a 1st + 2nd for Varlamov, Sherman showed his intent to be competitive. If he's serious about this then he keeps and re-signs Winnik unless he returns a 1st or a decent forward prospect with top six potential like Greg Nemisz.

MacKenzie has been talking up Winnik for over a month when he's on the radio in Vancouver.

I remember Winnink a lot from when he was on the Yotes... but he always seems invisible when the Nucks play the Avs.

Winnik is a good checking line forward. I didn't mind him during his time with the Coyotes. Great work ethic, but poor hands. That said, a contender looking to acquire him will be getting him for his specialty on the PK, not his goal scoring.

He'd be a good fit with the NYR or the Red Wings.

Always thought Brodziak and Winnik were comparable players (back during the Oilers + Yotes days). Big, good hockey IQ, poor hands.

A bottom-6 of those types would make for a great SC contender.

I'm familiar with the name but can't really pinpoint him as standing out. He does sound like someone San Jose could/should show interest in.

O'Byrne won't be moved(under contract and not on the active trading block), but more importantly, the Vancouver Canucks and Colorado Avalanche do not trade together. Ever.
