It says:

"Capitals Baseball is kaput, Ricky Ray is traded, you may as well come to FC Edmonton games. btw, thank you for all the fish, signed, your friend"

I'm kind of torn on location. I like Southcampus for proximity and ease of access and just the relaxed feel of the place. Nice spot to soak up the sun as well. But on the other hand "as is" it isn't much of a stadium. If they even moved the berm and bleachers on east end closer it would be a better facility. No idea why its way backed off like that.

I liked where Foote was located but i hated how far the GA seats were from the action and i hated the turf, as did all the players. Ive heard only good things about making Clarke the new home, except for the american football lines not being able to be painted over! Temporary stands and Beer gardens at the ends of the field will give it a Swangard Stadium feeling. (swangard having 1 grandstand)

However, FC Edmonton could also make use out of a vacant Telus Field. a baseball stadium worked well for the Portland Timbers during their stint in div 2.

The wiki page is pretty up-to-date:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FC_Edmonton

The team is pretty consistent from last year, a couple former Canadian nationals who are still pretty young (Shaun Saiko, David Monsalve).

They picked up Kevin Hatchi from the Montreal Impact. Matthew Lam is back from his loan in Japan.

And have apparently they invited another French player and a Chilean U20 national to their training camp. (EDIT: Chilean's name is Yashir Pinto, formerly from Colo Colo).

Makes sense but why not have English on the sign too? Unless this is located strategically in a certain area.

Monsalve wants to help FCE build into North America’s top team outside of MLS

Some amazing news for both FC Edmonton and FC Edmonton players

Canada's U23 team just beat the USA 2-0 thanks in partto excellent goalkeeping by FC Edmonton keeper Michal Misiewicz! Porter and Saiko are also on the team. With this victory Canada creeps pretty close to qualifying for their first Olympic appearance since 1984!

also in pre season play
FC Edmonton 7 WSA Winnipeg 0

They have the billboards in six different languages I believe. Good idea. I've watched a couple games on tv and like their attack with some style.

Porter was cut from the team prior to the tournament. He's been battling some injury issues.

He's with FCE now for the pre-season.

Never gone to a game but would like to. Who knows if I like it I might get season tickets. At 300$, why not? So cheap. Especially since I love football and never get to see any here in NA. Also, does anyone know how crazy the FCESG is?

re: Canada

What a terrible, terrible game the Canadian men just played against Cuba, of all teams.

The team could not make a pass to save their lives; the cross attempts were weak at best, and the three corners they received during the last twenty minutes of the match were a waste of everyone's time.

The team looked incredibly lazy, and showed little emotion.

Sure, they got a draw and are going to play in the semis, but with a chance like they had today, the team has to beat Cuba.

stevieeatworld, you seem quite up on this. Has FC Edmonton finalized where they'll be playing games this season? Foote Field again, somehow make Telus Field work?

The ESG are not too crazy.. yet. ive only made it out to a few games last year. (5hr commute). We had about 25 people standing with us during the match at Commenwealth against TFC. I have also heard of a time when there was only like 5 guys but i think it was on the same night as the stanley cup final and the weather was horrible. The core group are great guys and invite anyone who wants to sing some songs and drink a few beers to come and stand with!

Also upset with the play and the result. Canada needs to play as well as they did against USA, if not better if they wanna beat Mexico.

What a screw up by Canada today. Get the 1-0 lead in 30th minute then play conservative all the way against an inferior Cuban side that is entirely outmatched the whole contest, but allow Cuba to score the tying goal in injury time.

Just a colossal cluster**** that damages Canada's chances of advancing to the Olympics.

After beating the US 2-0 there was no reason to be so dismal in this match against Cuba. Really did very little in second half.

Anyway the FC Edmonton goalie looks very good. So Did Saiko (sp)

Excellent, thanks for that! Would be an awesome thing to have, a small (15-20k) Soccer Specific Stadium!

If you can believe it Canada played even worse against El Salvador. They got absolutely nothing going in that initial 0-0 draw.

I'm kicking myself because I got to watch the two dog games and somehow missed the US game in which Canada must've played well.

Way too much defensive posturing today instead of agressively stomping the Cubans. We were winning virtually every ball when we were pushing the matter. Got way too tentative as the game progressed.

I feel it would have been just as hard to play Honduras as it would be to Play Mexico. If we can play as well as we did against USA then we most definitely can beat Mexico as we have before! im still confident, and this is the first time in years that i have been.

P.S. The FC Edmonton Facebook page just teased a shot of the new 2012 Kit! BLACK!
