Obviously, from all the details presented about negotiation strategies, exact numbers about revenue and percentages, "The Player" is more educated, intelligent and in-the-know than most of his NHL union brothers.
Makes me believe he is probably, at least, a member of the 31 players that were involved in recent meetings. Craig Adams was in that group, so another chip for that pile.
This isn't the player since the player in question is a current one but I was thinking it might have been Isbister when he was dealt to Edmonton. Although the 02-03 Islanders weren't great they were a pretty young team and the Islanders had a brutal travel schedule that year from around Feb 03 until the end of the season. Not Isbister but just something I thought of.
Edit: just read they were targeting a forward so that puts another knife into the thought since Niinimaa was a dman
I wouldn't rule out Calgary. There's no mention of games in this scenario. The only game to be concerned about is the away game right after the move to acquire a prominent forward. Which could be the Forsberg deal in Nashville. So Nichol in Calgary still fits.
However, it looks like the Calgary deal was to ship out Johansson and Dupont. Both of whom only played partial seasons in Calgary (and some time in the minors.) Can anyone find out if they were with Calgary (and therefore at the practice) in March, 2003?
I don't think it's Calgary because they got Donovan for those two, who while a nice player isn't a big time name to write home about
Edit: Didn't see your later post thinking twice on the idea. Sorry bout that lol
Edit: or that this thread was a bump for that matter
After reading all evidence, I agree that I would be very surprised if it isn't Craig Adams. He would have had plenty of time to get to be friends with Boulerice and Zigomanis from before the lockout too.
