Anaheim is six points back with a game in hand on Dallas, LA, and Calgary, and two on Minnesota. Why would they make Ryan available when they have a shot at playoff contention that he is a major part of?
Because we want him? Wait...that's not how it works?
At this point, I think all we really need to have a very good forward line-up is a true offensive center. Fisher and Legwand are awesome as #2 and #3 (in either order), but neither of them are top line guys. I think our wingers are fine, especially if we get Rads back. The reasons I like Stastny better than Nash are 1. he's a center instead of a winger and 2. he's about 1 million cheaper.
Yes, Stastny and Nash are a little overpaid. Yes, Roy is a little small. Yes, Hemsky is made of glass. Yes, Carter may or may not have locker room issues. Yes, Semin may or may not be a team player. The point is, if they were perfect, their team wouldn't be trading them. You just aren't going to find perfect top lines forwards on the trade market very often, if ever. There is always a reason. You just have to find the right fit for you.
Would you guys trade for Semin as a rental? if the asking price was a 1st rounder, or a guy like Blum or the rights to Radulov maybe?
Radulov is off the table, just get that out of the way.
Semin for a 1st.. wouldn't be my first (or 2nd or 3rd) choice, but I would consider it. He is the opposite of what a Trotz player should be, but his talent is undeniable. Kostitsyn could use a sniper to play with.
