Erat - Fisher - SK
AK - Leggy - Horn
Tootoo - Spaling - Wilson
Halischuk - Gaustad - Bourque/Yip
I thought that as well, especially come playoff time...

Any chance we resign gaustad, ak46, or gill after before July first??

Seems like a lot to trade to let all three walk, I imagine ak resigns and I hope at least one of gill and gaustad.

Consider me happy, the happiest i've ever been with Poile on deadline day!!!
Couldn't agree more.

Hopefully a 3rd pairing defenseman (on good teams), 3rd line 'scorer' and a 3/4th line defensive player convince Suter and Weber to sign here long term....

Wow, 1st, 2 2nds and Geoffrion for 3 rentals.

At the end of the day the Predators are a better team but just used a ton of assets to make smaller upgrades.

Still no dynamic forward up front which puts on the level of Vancouver or Detroit.

If Suter bolts I would think we would try very hard to get Gill for a year as a stopgap.

AK.. you bet.. if he and his brother have good chemistry, we could probably get them both at a bit of a discount.

gaustad will depend on how much he will command and how well he plays for us this season.

The good thing is the 1st is likely coming back for the rights to Suter in the offseason.

Gaustad seems like the type of player that would test FA after a playoff run. He's the prototypical 3rd/4th line center every team wants. That said, I'm grateful to have him for atleast the rest of this season.

1st + 2nd + 2013 2nd + 5th (conditional?) + Smithson

for

Gill + AK + Goose + 4th (BUF) + 6th (FLA)

Not bad at all.

For an organization that drafts so many defensemen and two-way players, I find it odd we're having to use 1st and 2nd round picks to acquire just that. You'd hope that you'd be using those assets to address your inability to draft in other areas (scorers, which Kostitsyn is ok at).

We got 3 players that all improve our team and address needs without giving up any roster players...win. We all wanted GMDP to do something at the deadline, and he did.

Is anyone else curious how Wilson will respond to knowing that we were prepared to trade him to the worst team in the league? Sucks to be him.

Would you rather sell the farm (Wilson, Ellis, Blum, Smith, etc) for Nash and then still possibly lose Suter and/or Weber and cripple the team in the future?

It's not for sure set in stone that any of that was offered. But i'm sure it has some effect, especially on a young guy. Hopefully he's sensible to understand that this was Rick Nash we're talking about, he should feel good that he's seen as that valuable of a piece that he can be traded for a Nash.

Overall I think it'll be forgotten much sooner than later.

I think you are missing the forest for the trees....

dynamic forward would have been nice, but if we cant get one you counter that with major depth and rock solid defense and penalty killing.

Weber and Suter, along with our checking line, can shut down the other teams dynamic forwards, and we score by committee...

(oh and dont forget we could still add radulov.... he's pretty dynamic...)

I'm not knocking the acquisition as much as the price. He definitely improves the team especially against the nucks, wings, blues, sharks. So don't get me wrong. I am very pleased with the deadline but the first was unexpectedly high for gaustad.

You are quite the broken record on Suter. You have absolutely no idea what he will do yet.

WOW, Columbus GM just threw Nash under the bus at the start of his presser but took the high road on all the tough ?'s asked. I bet Nash wished his "list" was a little longer. GM said Nash came to them requesting a trade. He did not have to do that. Going to be the longest couple of months in Nash's life.

A 1st, 2 2nds and a prospect isn't selling the farm?

I think we are a much better team. I hope Weber and Suter do to. Still have a sinking feeling Suter is leaving but I suspect a WCF or SCF appearance will change his mind.
