Can cutting his hand off and replacing it with a bionic one be an option?

I'd run with Auld/Lehner at this point. I know Auld's been terrible and Lehner hasn't been that much better in the AHL but I don't think giving up assets for a short term rental is a great idea either. I feel like this is being discussed in the trade thread as we speak.

Many moons ago Montreal called up a young goalie near the end of the season named Ken Dryden who took the Habs all the way to the Stanley Cup. Could Lehner be Ottawa's version of Ken Dryden?

Not likely, but I would stick with Auld & Lehner, if they crap the bed we end up with a better prospect at the draft. If they keep us in it then we see where Lehner is in his development & Auld may be better than most give him credit for. I'm good either way.

They would probably give the Sens a goalie if they took on the rest of Yashin's buyout obligations.

I was skeptical of this story when it came out, and obviously it turned out to be true. Chalk one up for citizen reporters once again. :-)

Robin Lehner has been sulking all year in Bingo, convinced that he had earned the right to start the year in Ottawa. He very much reminds me of Patrick Roy in that he is confident bordering on cocky. Sometimes that works for a goalie - it worked for Roy. You wanted your chance, kid? Here it is. Truly great players rise to the occasion at moments like this. In the next couple of weeks, (my sense is that Anderson will be back just as soon as he can hold a stick) we'll know if Robin Lehner can truly be an NHL goaltender right now, or if we are in the market for a veteran backup this summer.

Lehner didn't play that much and then went and won the cup in the AHL... Now he played once and he's prob gonna come up soon...So by that logic he shall win the cup.. and since we got Cowen..you know the guy that always win in is first year anywhere... spokane, bingo, now sens. Be prepare guys.

If the injury reports and speculation on how long it will take for him to come back follow the norm, he will be back sooner than later. I bet it is 4 weeks max.

Sens officially recall Robin Lehner. He did play one game this year, beating the Leafs 3-2 back on October 30th.

It's been 36 hours since the injury and it's been really quiet from the Sens, other than the vague press release. We have nothing to go on except the HFB poster who said this injury is 4-6 weeks away...

My thinking is this injury is much worse and that Murray is shopping for another goalie pretty hard. It's not to say that he will take any offer, but I don't suspect we will get the 'real' news on Anderson until a week from now.

If I'm the Sens braintrust, I tell Anderson to stay in his home (away from the kitchen), rest up and keep his mouth quiet. In the meantime, Murray is looking without other teams knowing how bad the injury really is.

Keep quiet Sens - it's the right call, even though it's frustrating from our persepctive...

Auld will start against Boston. If he wins, he gets the start vs the Islanders. Win and stay in...no need to put the pressure on Lehner yet...

I'd think it's too early to tell, and that's why there's no news.

I dont think they know, he is seeing a specialist. Could be 10 days t0 8 weeks according to Canoe. I have a feeling that will be more towards the 10 day mark.

Wonder on the cost of Roloson?

absolutely no chance of this....they should be able to tell whether the injury is 7-10 days vs 2-4 weeks vs 4-6 weeks....absolutely no doubt in my mind about that...

I'm hoping this is just brinksmanship. Anderson will be fine in a few days, and if Lehner shows well on Saturday, they will be our two goalies going into the post-season, no need for a trade.

I'll admit to not being too impressed with Lehner's quick lateral mobility. He doesn't seem to recover well when a rebound or quick pass requires him to gain a new position or to stretch out for a save. I'm anxious to see him on Saturday night.

Especially since he's already had surgery...

It's strategy. Supress the details until you have made up your course of action.

I will be shocked...stunned if Auld doesn't get the start vs Boston...absolutely no need to put the pressure on Lehner this early, esp vs boston...that card may have to be played later.

I don't think they can instantaneously decide how well the surgery went.

You can either assume:

(a) They're hiding the true cost of the injury to avoid panic;
(b) They're being cautious about underplaying the injury so as to avoid panic.

I will say that, in terms of track record, the Hasek injury kind of floated around for awhile and it took a long time before the seriousness was revealed.

So that's not a great precedent.

Thus the low price. Do not want to give the farm for a goaltender at these prices, wouldn't mind trying to get Roloson for a flash in the pan potential. Maybe someone like David Dziurzynski who was an AHL championship winner and small chance of making the big club one day
