Our 1st PP unit would look like:

Nash-Stepan-Gaborik
Richards-Del Zotto
Could you imagine that PP? They might even be able to put the odd one in!

It is more than that, he has been in a Higgins-esque slump for an ENTIRE season. He seems incapable of elevating his play, if you're happy with the grinding Dubinsky making 4.2m a year that's your prerogative. I wouldn't think Sather is very happy about it considering he said that Dubinsky got his new contract and now needs to take his game to another level.

Dubinsky isn't scoring. Boyle isn't scoring. Prust isn't scoring. Rupp, Mitchel, Bickel, and Fedotenko sure as hell can't score.

Sure, the first three are great defensive players.

And sure, you don't expect the third and fourth lines to score.

But it would be nice if the third and fourth lines actually had the ability to score at all.

Is Nash the answer? I doubt it.

Even if he wasn't having a bad year, I'd still trade him for Nash.

No one is saying Nash is the end all, be all answer.

Him replacing Dubinsky, is a HUGE upgrade to our offense/firepower/skill.

We need another sniper, all great teams have a marquee duo who get **** DONE.

If he was scoring 35-40 goals, I wouldn't.

But then again, Dubinsky will NEVER touch the production that Nash has brought and will continue to bring for years to come.

So, yeah I would too.

If we get Nash in a good deal, say 1st, Thomas & Dubinsky...

what's to say in 2 years we can't move him for a better deal?

No, it's just goalscoring. He's on pace for 27 assists and that's with less icetime, and less PP time. So no, his whole offensive game isn't slumping, just his goal scoring.

I don't look at Dubinsky's situation as "What have you done for me lately?" so much as "What have you done for me ever?"

Yeah and before we signed Richards everyone was drooling over the thought of Gaborik & Richards playing together. Did anyone suspect Richards and Gaborik would be playing on different lines and that Richards would be on pace to put up only 56 points this season? Just goes to show, don't get your hopes up.

My fictional version of Dubinsky that I just made up from no real facts is going to go rocky this offseason and come back to score 50 next year to shut you and the rest of his critics up. So no way we should trade him for nash who can only score 40 in his best year.

Dubinsky led the Rangers in scoring last season and was their best player in the playoffs. Those are facts.

Rick Nash is clearly better than Dubinsky, also a fact - but you, above everyone else, continue to look at this situation in such a vacuum that its a bit astounding. The impact of such a deal goes far beyond Nash for Dubinsky.

LeBrun on TSN1050 saying he still believes the Rangers are the front runners.

You'd think they'd have to be. I mean, why is Toronto even interested? They have way more important holes than offense... they are 28th in the entire NHL in goals against per game, yet they are thinking of trading defense for more scoring?? How about address the goalie situation? or team defense?
I dont like Burke at all, but even I dont think hes that stupid.

Because Brian Burke is like the 2002 version of Glen Sather at this point in his career.

I fully expect to see Dubinsky play out of his mind tonight. However, I should be seeing that EVERY night from him regardless. But, if all this trade talk doesn't light a fire under his ass, I don't know what will.

It sure didn't last game. Going to be interesting to see...

When did I say anything about assists? He's in a goal scoring slump you're absolutely right. Which is what I said. The "more" is the fact that he is incapable of elevating his game to get himself off the 3rd line.

No I was talking about Dennis Wideman. Honestly dont care if hes soft, he knows how to play the point on the PP and will shoot the puck. The Rangers need that and if he can be had for cheep I have no problem putting him in the lineup in Emingers spot and let Staal cover for his defensive mistakes.
