Why do home teams prefer to shoot first and potentially give the last shot for the win to the road team? It's like if the road team had the last at bat in baseball.
^ Lehner is still a good prospect. They can't rely on a rookie at this point in season. But a solid pickup for Sens. They are looking in real good shape now.
A #1 Center, #1 Goalie (even though injured), #1 D-man, Alfredsson, Michalek, Turris.. and DaCosta and Zibanejad haven't even joined the team yet.

You haven't even mentioned likely the Sens #1 prospect and candidate for best player outside of the NHL right now in Silverberg tearing up the SEL who is also a too way force and the team wanted in Ottawa this year before he decided to go back.
he turned a team who finished in the Finals into a lottery team.
It was 5 years ago. The teams who made finals year before that are both still sucking. Heck, Hawks almost missed the playoffs after winning the cup. Exceptions are Pens and Red Wings, both have good reason to be successful year after year.
I don't understand, wasn't Bishop considered the best goalie non-playing in the NHL? He only worth a second round pick next year? Why didn't Burke try to get him?

You're crediting Murray for turning the Sens into a playoff team when the Sens made the playoffs for 11 straight years (which ended only under Murray's reign)

actually our demise was set since the muckler era
our prospect pool was terrible and in the cap world (at that time the cap was lower) a poor prospect pool just wasnt going to keep you competitive. A team like van lost Naslund and Bertuzzi upfront and a moved out ohlund while linden retired...yet they still had the sedins upfront, kesler/burrows came up plus edler and bieksa on defense..now they have hodgeson.
The thing that says it all is that the year before Muckler came in we drafted Spezza and murray's first real draft we got karlsson.
It's impossible to judge a goalie based on so few games, but Ben Bishop's NHL record is 4-5-1 with an .896 save percentage. I need reminding, what was so good about him again that everyone was calling him the best goaltender not playing in the NHL?? His AHL numbers before this season were average-good, nothing spectacular.
If I were Ottawa, I would have just stuck with Lehner for the rest of the year to be honest. That's a guy that looks to be a #1.
I think the thing isto add some depth. Not to take over Lehner. Give Lehner some competition. We only have Lehner, we needed more. This added more. Lehner IMO needs a few more years.
