A guy who'll drive you nuts on every line. If we play San Jose again in the playoffs Thornton might end up taking his skate off and stabbing somebody.
Only if Eager was still on SJ, he'd be in the box for the whole series...

Dallas host vancouver Sunday.

I assume if a trade is in the works both parties will wait until that match for any last minute scouting purposes..

What if both Ott and Raymond are scratched or "injured"?

With our luck Ott and Raymond will have a mid ice collision, injuring both for 3-6 months.

Would be a great fit for them, I have to imagine they could get him with futures only... no need to send Raymond in a trade like this.

Or maybe there is a need and I'm overvaluing Raymond?
The canucks don't have the capsace to acquire Ott without sending a sizeable contract the other way. Mason Raymond seems the obvious choice as he seems out of place in the canucks lineup.

#SNtrade. Plenty talk with #Stars Steve Ott. Teams that showed interest include #Canucks #Leafs #Flyers. Stars want significant piece back

Sure why not... We'll be the most hated team for at least another 2 years.

People have been talking about Ott for Raymond straight up...I hardly think the canucks would want to acquire Robidas for Ballard, Schroeder and a 2nd.

Pretty sure if that was offered Steve Ott could be a Canuck already. That's not *terrible* return, not great but not terrible.

I don't watch the Nucks that often, but I'd be pissed if we gave you guys straight up for Raymond.

Stars don't want Ballard, no other NHL team wants Ballard.

Take him out and maybe you have yourself a deal.

I want Ott to go to Nashville, if they had him, they'd easily be the most Solid team in the league and a contender

Ott for Boullion and Bourque

For Vancouver

Ott for Sulzer and Connaution

Raymond can be moved in another trade... though I agree, his salary needs to be moved to fit in Ott. I like Ott, and think he's a much better fit for our team, and especially AV, he's exactly his type of player - gritty, hard-working, good defensively and very versatile, being able to play all 3 forward positions (but from what I've seen, he's a natural LW), and strong on faceoffs, which only helps the 3rd line next to Hodgson.

This is a good fit for the Canucks... although I'm still hoping their #1 priority is still defense - particularly a stable right handed shot who can cover for Salo. Currently the Canucks defense is one Salo injury from disaster... too much resting on the most injury-prone player in the league. This is where the team needs depth, not up front... though it's hard to argue that Ott isn't a perfect fit for the Canucks.

The trade has less value with Ballard included? I'm sure that'll be fine by Canucks fans.

Ballard is not nearly as bad as people try to portray him on HFboards. Yes, he hasn't been a great fit with the Canucks, and yes, his salary is on the high side for what he provides. But let's get real here: he's a serviceable NHL d-man who, given the right environment, can play a top 4 role. It just so happens that during his stay in VanCity, he hasn't been a great fit. Having said that, before his injury he was playing much better; maybe his best stretch as a Canuck.

To suggest that he holds NO value is ridiculous.

yeah that would be a lateral trade at best and certainly not the best offer the stars could get for Ott.
