Uncharted Territory

No one on this board has experienced what we are experiencing right now. Overtime has been a cruel joke. And now we are in a spot that is so unreasonably optimistic that the entire situation seems implausible.

Some of us may be able to relate based on our allegiances to teams in other sports ... but one fact rings true ... no matter what other sports or teams we care about the LA Kings are THE team that we care about.

Where we are is not enough.

Just because it is better than before does not mean it is what we should settle for.

We will root together.

We will hope together.

And if the hockey gods smile upon us we will celebrate together.

For now
...
...
...
we dare to hope.

None of us have been here before and it's closer than we have ever been.

In their 45 year history, the Kings have never been 2 wins from the Stanley Cup.

Never. Until this night.

I am so ****ing pumped

This can't be happening. This is the kind of run that every #8 seed dreams of.

"Ok, we're the 8 seed. Maybe some sort of miracle will happen and our team will transform into an unstoppable force that ****ing lays waste to the top teams in the conference without much trouble and goes to the finals. Yeah right!"

But it IS happening. We're seeing it happen.

They need to finish this. If they don't I will Cobain myself.

It's magical so far. What's so sweet is that if the Kings win it all, they will give hope to all the lower seeds from now until the end of time. Anything is possible once you make it into the Playoffs.

True

A 14-2 run, 10-0 on the road is just spectacular, but as the Kings keep saying,

"We haven't won anything yet, but we aren't done yet. This is game 1 on monday."

Sutter has all the guys preaching the same, and looking only as far as the next shift.

It's really a beautiful thing and the record shows its working.

It's scary that I'm starting to believe that the Kings can win the Stanley Cup this year.

Their last three wins have been in OT. Game 5 against Phoenix and the first two games in the Cup Finals. This team is avenging the loss of the '93 Kings.

I love the humble nature these guys have when interviewing. I think they have to keep that. Don't get cocky. Realize you've been a bit lucky with the 2-0 advantage and come up to improve that. The Carter/Doughty press conference was great and at one point, someone tries to call them on their humble status and call the goals artistic. "A goal's a goal," was Carter's reply.

That said, New Jersey will likely come out very strong and try to close the gap. No surprise, really, when a team is down 2. The Kings need to be ready. It's a great time for Kings fans but like they've said, it's not done yet.

At least the Kings have had plenty of practice being up 2-0 in a series coming home. I don't expect the Kings to back off their game just because they are up 2-0.

Hopefully the travel will slow down NJ more than LA. Too bad the game starts at the same time, 8 EST.

Yeah, so far every time they've been up 2-0, they've responded by going up 3-0. I would love for that to continue.

The 5/8 start time isn't great but it can be tough when it's PST vs. EST teams.

Don't worry - I am enjoying it immensely

I'm also trying not to jinx anything. I haven't been able to follow this as much as I normally do due to a project on the East Coast that had kept me in Charlotte, NC since the middle of December. It's the first time that I haven't been in SoCal for the season since 1973. My transfer back to SoCal came through Wednesday - I'll be back Monday morning....

Yes, I know... being superstitous is bad luck
