Richardson please. Carter for JJ and a prospect and a pick would be pretty stupid. It doesn't have to be stated why. This would be a fine deal as long as it didn't get overboard.
Part of me wishes it had been Bernier, that way Johnson could potentially have brought in another top 6 winger. The market for Bernier is probably too limited to bring a top 6er back.
I was just reading the Goalie Guild twitter feed and he was saying Bernier didn't play enough for GMs to want him for a good scorer. He's an unknown commodity. I totally understand. He's started what, 8 games?
Yah, it's a gamble all right... wouldn't want to jeopardize our awesome position on the playoff bubble and 30th ranked offense.
im not thinking about now..... im thinking about long term. if this experiment fails we have a lot of long contracts and we will be ****ed for a long time if this doesnt go well.

Trading a fiercely loyal young defenseman for a floating center who has never made an impact in the playoffs (due to injury or ineffectiveness) signed for 10 more years with a history of attitude issues. I would call that a pretty big gamble. I really do not feel good about this at all.

Richards is the only one with a NMC/NTC. The next GM can adjust the roster however he wants. I don't think the Kings have any long term contracts that couldn't be traded.

Why does this scare people ?
AEG is the richest owner in the league, They can always ALWAYS buyout, trade, bury contracts.
You are trading Jack's 4Mill for Carters 5m. Carter's is longer yes..... It may not work out, probably won't. But Carter is still moveable if it doesn't.
If we get him, doesn't he have a very long term contract ?
Don't know if its a good idea to commit more than 2-3 yrs to any player unless he is basically a young, going into his prime, can't miss player.
I wasn't happy with the Doughty contract at about $7M per year, way too much for him considering he had one great year and last year and this have been worth a medium salary of maybe $4-5M/yr but not $7M.
I sure hope teaming Carter back up with Richards will do wonders for both...
He has 8 hits on the entire season!!!! How am I the only one who sees this? 8 hits... How is that even possible.
We needed some tissue paper in the lineup Seriously though, I think we need someone less focused on doing the gritty things and more focused on rifling the biscuit into the net.

Also, hell yes, finally someone says it. If the team winds up screwed up they can bury these guys or trade them. A 46 goal scorer can ALWAYS be traded.

hes rich bbut he's also very smart and frugal with money.
dont expect buyouts or burying players in the minors.
Don't kid yourselves, this is a huge gamble. Seriously. It's a potential franchise defining move. Carter could turn out to be nothing more than another Dustin Penner in this system but one we're stuck with for TEN YEARS and Jack could potentially blossom now that he's the go-to guy and become the #1 defender he always seemed just a few steps away from becoming.
That's the worst case scenario. I doubt that's what's gonna happen but I also doubted that all three out of Penner, Gagne and Stoll would flop this season.

If Carter fails in this system, he will be playing in a new one next season because the entire management staff will be gone.
If Johnson goes with a pick and Bernier stays, I'm for it.
I'd rather have it the other way around. Johnson plays every day and has the "tattoo". Bernier plays every 1st of never and his attitude, though improved, has been questionable in the past.

I really don't care, But people saying a Guy that has scored on Average 35 goals the past three years. With a 5.5 Mill cap hit can't be moved is silly.
