Semin with the Bruins style of play would clash horribly.

why does everyone hate Semin. sick skills, has played real hard since Hunter named coach and he plays WAAAAAAAAY more defense than Oveckin.

Because they don't watch him play. His defensive play is very underrated, but he's not paid to play D anymore than Ovechkin is. His job is to put up goals and assists and he's crapped the bed for 2 years running. Ovechkin as well.

One is the franchise player and the other isn't. The end.

In a few words:

A lot.

Washington doesn't want to make a team in their own conference better.

Semin is much more defensively responsible than anyone will ever want to give him credit for. Regardless, Semin's either going to sign a long term deal at similar money elsewhere in the NHL, take a paycut to stay w/ the Caps, or KHL it.

For as much crap Semin gets(most of it deserved), I never got why people think he plays no D. When he was actually used on the PK a few years ago, he was great. His defensive game is much like his offensive one: When its actually there, its good. He has been easily the caps best forward(probably player) under Hunter. He is actually HITTING for godsake. Its definitely a situation where he is far more valuable to the Caps than anyone else though imo.

All that being said, he isn't going anywhere this season. He really does love Washington, and I actually see him taking a paycut to stay here. If he doesn't get resigned, I think he goes to the KHL, but not "bolting for money" like everyone is saying. The guy is pretty introverted and feel comfortable here with Ovechkin, and I think its here or going back home. If he does leave here, I would love to see him go help rebuild Lokomotiv.

He'd fit better with the Habs, he's lazy, overpaid, soft and doesn't seem to care.

I guess you can have what you want, especially good prospects and high draft picks.

...

For the OP, no way does Semin fits with the Bruins.

Semin is not a Bruins type player. I'm sure the Bruins wouldn't even take him for a bag of pucks, he would mess up their chemistry.

Semin does not fit with the Boston style. They don't really need fast, small, dangling shooters, because they play the tough, gritty, defensive, power based team.

No way, Semin is too important of a player to just give up, its not like the Capitals would lose him in the off season anyways.

Also lets talk about the hardworking Bruins line up.

Krejci has same points one less game, but is a -7 on the highest goal differential team in the NHL, Semin is a +8.

Giving up Semin effectively means giving up on making the playoffs, so it would take quite a bit.

Semin would fit more on a Red Wings (No toughness) style team.
