So, uh, Carter, uh... Thanks for the hat tricks?

If JJ is half as bad as what is suggested by his awful +/- when his other teammates were plus players... we're gonna hate this guy more than Christian Backman and Scott Lachance combined.

Johnson is a tale of two cities this season.

Home...32 GP...20 points....+2
Road....29 GP....4 points...-14

12 points in 12 career playoff games.

Cap Hit $4.4m for 6 years after this season.
Cap Gain -$5.3m for 10 years after this season.

It's not often a team will attempt to correct a big trade gone bad after such a short period of time. Me thinks Craig Patrick is behind the nuclear option.

I'm sure that Umberger is being offered at give-a-way prices.

If I were Tyutin, I'd have a travel bag packed as well.

The franchise is really rebuilding.....amen to that.

I hope that Nash stays, but I'm not counting on it.

Maybe it's because I'm tired right now and tomorrow, with reloaded tanks, I'll find something interesting, but right now...I don't care.

I just don't care. Johnson's talented, but I'm seeing lots of whining about him on other sites.

Here's what I wrote in the trade rumor thread where everybody is bashing Jack Johnson's stat sheet:

"Honestly, give Johnson a pat on the back when he gets there, slap a letter on his jersey, tell him he's their guy going forward and play him 26 minutes a night. He's gonna be happy as a pig in (feces) by the responsibility and thrive. Any time Doughty was out with an injury and Johnson was being relied on as the go-to guy he could match Doughty at his best. That's also what's puzzling and frustrating, that he couldn't manage the same when he wasn't the big dog."

Give him a chance, he has shown the tools of becoming a true #1 guy, just not on a consistent basis thus far but he's getting better and better every year. He's a gym rat, a leader, a competitor, pretty good size and physical tools, a tremendous skater... Just be patient and he'll reward you for it. His downsides are his passes can be a little too hot to handle and his reads in the defensive zone are, whilst improving, not consistently good yet.

In short, when he's bad he's real bad, when he's good he's real good. He gets a little less bad every year.

No problem. I was sick of the rumor and decided Helene could easily get to the bottom of it. Not surprisingly, she did.

Okay, was typing about the conditional pick, but Helene has now clarified that via a tweet--its a 2012 pick unless the Kings miss the player, then it would be for 2013. That makes a LOT more sense.

Go Kings Go (unless Howson's still the GM making the pick)!

first for this year is conditioned on Kings NOT making the playoffs... not much of a chance that happens now. pair johnson and wiz so they can race to -100 together

Howson shouldn't have caved and said 2012 1st no matter what. I can't imagine that would have killed the deal, but what do I know?

WHAT?! That part of the deal is great. We get to decide when we get the pick. If they make the playoffs this year we get it in 2013 where hopefully they don't make the playoffs and the pick is higher. If they don't make the playoffs we get to pick which year we want it. Which means we can use it this year if there is a player we like where they are picking. If not, we can just use it next year.

I was hoping for a bit more for Carter, like JJ and Bernier or JJ a 1st and Loktionov, but I guess this is still a decent deal.

Better return then I expected to be honest. Part of me wants Nash to stay, but the angry fan in me says "you next".

Wiz and JJ... imagine them on the same pairing. That's... actually horrifying, and not in a good way. (Yes, I know they likely won't ever be on the same pairing for 5 on 5, but still)

Well he's already talking. That right there is an improvement over Carter.

See Porty's twitter. One of these days I'll figure out how to quote tweets.

Very disappointed unless he really did want out. JJ will be great to have, maybe it allows us to trade one of our surplus of PMD for a defensive D. It's so funny with this roster, 3 years ago we didn't have anybody on D who could move the puck up the ice and score points, all we had were defensive defenders. Now all we have are offensive guys and no defensive defenders. Tyutin isn't going to be traded IMO, He and Nikitin were a top notch pair, so I have no clue where we go with the defense from here. You can't pair Wiz and JJ together, but I do know that something is going to happen with our D maybe even with Tyutin. Someone out of Tyutin, Savard, Moore, and Methot won't be here next season.

This now pushes Wiz down to the 2nd pairing, which is great news.

Johnson and Tyutin should compliment each other very well for the rest of the season.

The best case scenario would be the Kings implode next season and the Jackets get a top 10 pick. It's not likely but there's greater odds than the Kings having a top 10 pick this season. Stranger things have happened. No one would have figured the Ducks would be as bad as they are this season.

That pick could be used to move up this year, possibly. That's why I don;t like it being conditional.

Sounds good to me. I've wanted JJ for years, I'm not sure how I feel that he's here and the Jackets are the worst team in the league.

Why? The pick will be higher next year if they make the playoffs this year and don't next year.
