Yet he still didn't ask out. We can't even say that about our captain. No idea why one is being elevated to CBJ sainthood while the other is being demonized.
Haven't seen one at the 6 or 7 games I've been to.
I do remember seeing more than a few Wiz jerseys. I really think those few days of darkness after the initial trade really did hurt Carter in the eyes of the fans (both casual and hardcore). Fair or not, it soured many against him and he was behind the eight ball the entire rest of his time here. Not that this opinion is anything new. But just looking at the reception he got versus Wiz's reception, they did end up being vastly different.
If Carter was happy to be in Columbus, he sure had a peculiar way of showing it. He exuded misery from day one.
Not being happy is one thing; obviously not trying often times is another. He looked like he was at a public skate at times when he was a stride behind covering a 2 on 1 against.
Color me unmoved by the fact that he didn't want to be here. He signed a contract-a very lucrative one-which had a window for a trade. He didn't negotiate Columbus out of it. He's a spoiled crybaby who lacks integrity as evidenced by his attitude and effort while here.
Screw Carter. I'll be among the boo birds and hopefully Dorsett will light his sorry a$$ up tonight.

It will be interesting to see how Carter and Johnson approach the game tonight, respectively. You're supposed to get up for a game against your former team, right? I have no doubt JJ will play with a lot of energy and passion tonight. Kind of guy Carter seems to be, or was here? My money's on him not playing particularly energized against us. Would go to show his level of care to have actually been a Blue Jacket.

It's an important game for LA, as long as Carter is 100% physically I expect him to play a decent game. I'm not a player but when it comes to NHL level hockey non beneficial drama affecting how one plays needs to be kept in check; players getting boo'd, hated by fans, yelled at, bad memories after a trade etc. is all part of the game that must be controlled.

ha ha Robert, how ya like me now?
totally kidding.
was interesting to hear that Johnson didn't answer his phone last night (per Rimer) so he could focus on this game. I really didn't think I had anything against Carter, and wouldn't have booed him... but then when the puck dropped I did get a little invested in wanting him to do poorly tonight. I sure didn't want him to score any goals or assists! Gotta say, to state the oft-stated obvious hindsight- the sky's the limit for Johnson on this team, and I couldn't be happier with that trade. Not only did we get a great fit for the position, but we got a huge upgrade in terms of competitiveness and locker room presence.

Spot on. Carter never invested himself in this team. I'd bet in his mind, his former club was Philadelphia.
Some funny staff about JMFJ from 2007: http://www.yostbuilt.com/2007/03/jmfj.html
JMFJ once ate a whole cake before his friends could tell him there was a stripper in it.

Thanks, Lee, and that's a good way of putting it. I bet you're right.
Not trying to fan the flames, but...
"This one felt good. This has been a really great change for me," Johnson said after getting a goal in his second straight game for his new team -- and the first against his old team. "I've been excited to come to the rink every day. These guys here have a blast here at the rink and it's carrying over onto the ice. Guys are loose and having fun. That's what this game is supposed to be all about."
Be still my beating heart?
Taken from the ESPN recap of the game. Unfortunately, also contained this gem:
"Carter scored with 8.5 seconds left in the opening period to break a 1-1 tie and give the Blue Jackets the lead for good."
Voracek, 1st and 3th for J.Johnson and 1st... it is very good value IMO and respect for Howson...
Btw, our defense made by Howson is:
Tyutin, Nikitin
J. Johnson, Wisniewski
Methot, Moore/Goloubef/D. Savard
is it a bad job??? NO!!! I understand his critique but we had bad defense, now it is very good, we have talents in the offense and will be draft to support it. Our future looks very good IMO.
Watching the Kings/Jackets game last night, (and I know it's early...) but the trade looks like an absolute steal for us. JJ is pretty awesome. Carter looked pretty bad last night and he had plenty of motivation.
when we traded for Jeff Carter. I thought we needed more offense and Carter has always been one of my favorite players. I thought Philly fans were being to hard on the guy.
Many posters on here including Viqsi and Blah said we really needed a #1 defensemen. I adamently defended the trade for Carter.
I was wrong, they were right. To think how much better we could have been this year had we just gotten JMFJ or someone like him in the first place. It amazes me the increase in confidence that everyone else on our blueline is playing with.. it generated from the leadership and force of JMFJ>

and a first!
Carter did not play well, that said, the way the entire Kings team played one would think they were all recently traded to the Kings from the Jackets.
The one part I just can't get over is that we had, arguably, one of the organizations biggest needs, ever and we traded him. Reasons aside, this still bugs me. I'm not sure Johnson is our future number one defenseman... Could be, but I'm still uncertain....
Im glad Johnson seems to enjoy Columbus and vice versa, but right now, the only full upside I see for the team is that we won't be eating 5-6 mil a season for the next number of years for a guy that, eventhough we were told no formal request was made, wasn't happy here.....
....Although we still are paying 7.8 mil a year to a guy that doesn't want to be here either....

Good on ya. Most folks will just "forget" when they take stands that are proven wrong. (I still cringe about my opinion that Steve Bernier would be the next great power forward in the NHL)

Eva while this is all true, it's a mistake to ignore all of the steps. I think many of us recognized that the Jackets desperately needed to get a better defense and goaltending last summer, and instead Howson decided to trade for Carter. The result is he THREW this season down the drain.
What do you think this season's failure will cost this team in cash, time, and fan support? What about the season ticket holders who spend thousands of dollars each that was wasted?
The Carter trade was a huge mistake. It was an attempt to ignore the real problems and just put lipstick on a pig.
I would have been thrilled if Howson had traded for JMFJ - last off-season.

I agree 100% with you on the D. I will be so pissed if Howson does not attempt to improve this defense even more this off season.

Yeah, part of me is glad they are playing better, but it doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things. I want that first overall at this point, its all we realistically have to look forward to this season.
I don't always agree with Arace about this team, but I think he nailed it on this latest column about why we can't get fooled again by a team playing well this time of year.
