Not only was this a horrendous call, but it was a play that EVERYONE AND THEIR MOTHERS expect from Luke Schenn - a SMART, DEFENSIVE, PHYSICAL HOCKEY PLAY.

We hear every sports analyst, media member, and Leafs fan preach about Schenn needing to play like Scott Stevens and gain that nastiness in front of the net to intimidate any sucker trying to mess with the goaltender.

This horrible call is detrimental to the growth of young players. These inconsistencies are ruining the game of hockey.

Don't even get me going on the Grabovski penalty that led to the winning goal.

Last nights game was lost due to those two brutal calls. They swong momentum towards the Sharks in such an unnecessary fashion.

holy crap, get a clue.

Luke lost it, and it was a penalty. can't believe anyone would think otherwise

could have been called that. but it was called interference

Denying that is silly.
difference between playing with grit and being stupid. that penalty last night was stupid.

denying that is as well.

must be tough looking in the mirror then?

Agreed some of those losses are certainly not a result of goaltending alone.

However Leafs do have the 28th most goals against (186 YTD) which after 61 games is over 3 goals against on average. So scoring only 2 yourself doesn't give a team good odds of coming away with 2 points.

I've got plenty of clues.

He cleared the man from in front of the net. Plain and simple. The referee's said he interfered with Clowe on a play that happens dozens of times in every game.

Smart, physical play.

If it was a cross check, then the next time Luke will refrain from using a cross check. But how can Luke, a stay-at-home Defenseman, refrain from "interfering" with a player in front of the net?

It's all about learning. Now, what will Luke do? The next time someone is standing half-a-metre in front of Reimer, should Schenn touch him? What if he ties up the opponents stick, but the shot from the point gets through a screened goalie?

Fans like you come on websites like this and talk about the lack of aggression in this so-called "Human Eraser".

This is pretty logical, but I'm truly glad you decided to respond to each of my posts.

Thanks!

its official phaneuf sucks.
Yet if Phaneuf Went after Marleau and Thornton scored its Phaneuf's fault. Not his fault Marleau scored from the top of the circle, thats the wingers job.

The second goal was all Marleau.

Based on your previous history, if Phaneuf is on the roster its his fault.

When the scoring chances are limited to a handful, and we allow two goals against, yes, some blame should be placed on the goalie (given the patented shoulder-shrug goal).

He didn't leave his feet, so it wasn't charging. Could have been called a crosscheck, but interference fits just as well (dropping a player without a puck). Now you're arguing semantics, though. Doesn't matter what you want to call it, it was a legit (and dumb) penalty.

Gus was blamed for the Jets loss here so why should reimer get a pass. It looks like he'll get another start saturday. Dunno why he didnt show any progress or good signs to really roll himout there again. Its gonna be a huge game but we'll see how it unfolds. I wont be too confident in a win saturday but ay well just keep sliding down the standings as Reimer gets coaxed back into as a starter.

hopefully next time he will do something that is not a penalty. plowing the guy over, who doesn't have the puck, by cross checking him, is a penalty.

its pretty obvious you don't play. that may be allowed on your video game.
