Lombardi, Crabb on the ****ing 3rd line when you have Kadri and Colbourne in the minors
this is exactly the type of **** that gets a GM fired
as for Wilson, well just watch this team and its a no brainer
****.. how much does it suck as a fan base knowing that we're gonna miss the playoffs for obvious reasons yet management refuses to fix them
This team doesn't deserve to make the playoffs. Where's the urgency? You're trying to MAKE THE PLAYOFFS. Try playing like you give a ****.
Grabovski has played with urgency... Problem is that the other teams are out-coaching the Leafs... The Leafs always play the style the other team wants. The Leafs are always out against the matchups the other teams want... I never see or hear about Wilson strategically using his players other than when he uses steckel to win a big face off (and anyone could pull that trick).
Wilson tells players how to play in practice then watches the games from the best seat in the house...
He is not a chess player during games like Babcock or Hitchcock...
Really need to just name one of the guys your starter and ride him the rest of the way, regardless of their game-to-game performances. This revolving door is no way to build confidence and consistency.
I know it's early but the team's recent play and position in the standings make this discussion relevant.
If the Leafs don't make the playoffs (really, it's not looking good) Brian Burke should be fired.
There are are many moments and moves under his reign that can be lauded and condemned. If the playoffs are missed again it is the bad
ones that must be focused in on:
1. the naming of Dion Phaneuf as the team captain before he played a single game in a Leaf uniform. Baffling. Phaneuf's poor on ice play (the givaways and missed coverage) is no surprise to Calgary fans- so why did it escape Brian Burke?
2. The decision that James Reimer was a Number One goalie based on only a half season of above average play in the NHL. A terrible gamble that Brian has lost, and lost badly.
3. The continued support of Ron Wilson. The rewarding of Wilson with a new contract before achieving the only measure of success worth considering: a playoff birth.
Fail. Fail. Fail.
